Charles Leroy Nickles Sr.

June 30, 1964 ~ September 19, 2018 (age 54)

          Charles Leroy Nickles, Sr., 54, of Bellflower, passed away Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at SSM Health St. Joseph Hospital – Lake Saint Louis, Missouri.

          Charles was born June 30, 1964 in Potosi, Missouri, a son of Thomas Edward and Virginia MaryAnn (Wickerham) Nickles.

          He had lived in Bellflower the last 20 years.  Prior to that, he lived in Potosi. 

          Charles had been a groundskeeper at the Daniel Boone Home in Defiance for over 21 years.         

          He enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, mudding, watching western movies and building things out of wood.  Charles liked feeding the squirrels and had a pet squirrel that he had raised from a baby.  He loved spending time with his family.

          Charles is survived by his son, Charles Leroy “Buck” Nickles Jr. and wife, Deanna, of Wellsville; daughter, Amanda Renee Welschmeyer and husband, Mark, of Martinsburg; grandchildren, Garrett and Charlene Welschmeyer, of Martinsburg, Kara Carlisle and Kambreana Tarrants, of Wellsville, Destiny Westrich, Erin Jones, Allison Jones, Joey Joslin, Alexous Huff, Dalton Huff and Katie Kelly, of O’Fallon; great-grandchildren, Bradyn Carlisle, of Wellsville and Caleb Westrich, of O’Fallon; brothers and sisters, Dennis Nickles and wife, Rochelle, of Mineral Point, Kathy Burbon, of Irondale, Mike Nickles, of Irondale, James Nickles and wife, Tabitha, of Potosi, Debbie Cortuis, of Potosi, Glenn Nickles, of Potosi and Thomas Nickles, of Irondale; in addition to numerous nieces and nephews. 

          He was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia MaryAnn Nickles; niece, Brittany Nickles; nephews, Wayne Burbon and Denny Nickles and brother-in-law, Ronnie Brand.

          A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.

          Arrangements were under the direction of the Myers Funeral Home in Wellsville.
