Deborah Kay “Debbie” Yelton, 66, of Auxvasse, formerly of Wellsville, passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2019 at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, Missouri.
Debbie was born January 8, 1953 in Concordia, Kansas, a daughter of Willis Clinton and Delia Rose (Demars) Kiefer.
She was a 1971 graduate of Junction City High School in Junction City, Kansas.
On February 16, 1973 in Junction City, Kansas, she married Gerald Dean “Gary” Yelton, sharing over 46 years of marriage together. Debbie and Gary have lived in Auxvasse for the last 12 years. Prior to that, they lived in Wellsville.
Debbie had previously been employed at Dollar General Warehouse in Fulton. She had also worked at Places in Montgomery City, Gamma Road Lodge and Dairy Mart in Wellsville, when Carl and Esther Schmidt owned it.
She was a member of the Loutre Valley Bow Club, former Scout Leader and former Jaycettes.
Debbie enjoyed camping, fishing, sewing and playing bingo. She also loved flowers, gardening and watching the birds, especially the hummingbirds. Debbie was her son’s biggest fan and supported them in whatever they were doing. She loved going to the dirt track and watching her son, Ronnie, race and hardly ever missed as long as she could help it. She also helped with Missouri Mud Madness, truck mudding, which was something her son, Shawn, had started. More than anything, she loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Debbie is survived by her husband, Gerald Dean “Gary” Yelton, Sr., of the home in Auxvasse; sons, Shawn Clinton Yelton and fiancée, Kimberly Luedloff, of Centralia and Ronnie Lee Yelton and wife, Jennifer, of Auxvasse; eleven grandchildren, Kasandra Kayle Yelton and Dylan Howell, of Hartsburg, Shelby Nicole Yelton, of Columbia, Dylan Shawn Yelton, serving in the U.S. Air Force, stationed in Okinawa, Japan, Shawn Clinton Yelton, Jr. and wife, Hanna, of Las Cruces, New Mexico, Amanda Luedloff, of Jefferson City, Courtney Luedloff, of Centralia, Hunter Dean Yelton, of Centralia, Cheyenne Kay Shaw and husband, Michael, of Vandalia, Rodger Dean Yelton, of Wellsville and Lucas Lee Yelton and Mackenzie Lynn Yelton, of Auxvasse; seven great-grandchildren, Hudson Yelton, of Las Cruses, New Mexico, Eli Howell and Aubree Howell, of Hartsburg, and Ryland, Michael, Aubree and Brooklynne Shaw, of Vandalia; brothers and sister and spouses, Wayne Earl and Roxie Heller, of Junction City, Kansas, Terry Eugene and Sue Heller, of Old Fort, North Carolina, Jenny Marie and Donald Noah, of Olathe, Kansas and Xavier Louis “Buster” and Cathy Kiefer, of Junction City, Kansas; in addition to several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her son, Gerald Dean “Gary” Yelton, Jr.; parents, Delia and Bill Kiefer and brother, Larry Lee Heller.
Funeral services were at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 30, 2019 at the Myers Funeral Home in Wellsville. Rev. Donald Noah, Sr. officiated.
Visitation was held from 5:00 p.m. until the time of service, Tuesday, at the funeral home.
