            Donald Eugene “Don” Lawrence, 72, of rural Middletown, passed away unexpectedly Friday, September 6, 2019 at his home.

            Mr. Lawrence was born April 30, 1947 in Fisk, Missouri, a son of Ernest Lee and Ruby Angelina (Guy) Lawrence. 

            He was a 1965 graduate of Poplar Bluff High School.

            Don served his country in the United States Army, serving in the Vietnam War.  He entered on February 2, 1967 and was honorably discharged on January 23, 1969.  Don was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Sharpshooter M-14, Marksmen M-16 and 2 Oversea Bars.

            On March 2, 1968 at the Martinsburg Community Church he married Phyllis Kay Davis, sharing over 51 years of marriage together. Don and Phyllis have lived at their present address for over 40 years.

            Don was the owner of Lawrence Trailer Rebuilders in Montgomery City since 1976.  Prior to that, he had worked at McDonnell Douglas in St. Louis for 10 years.

            He was a member of Montgomery City VFW Post 4436 and a former member of Middletown Fire Department and Middletown Lions Club.

            Don was an avid hunter, hunting deer, pheasant, coon and rabbit.  He also enjoyed fishing.  Don liked going to the Old Threshers and Bluegrass Festivals. 

            Don is survived by his wife, Phyllis Kay Lawrence, of the home in Middletown; four daughters and sons-in-law, Faith Renee and Mark Lawrence, of Wentzville, Connie LeeAnn and Tim Morgan, of Moberly, Tammy Lynn and Chuck Giger, of Montgomery City and Mary Beth and Mike Roesner, of Middletown; twelve grandchildren, Samuel Bisanti, Emily Bisanti, Aaron Lawrence, Makayla Lawrence, Gregory Morgan, Clayton Morgan, Rachael Morgan, Brandon Lawrence, Samantha Giger, Kayley Giger, Lane Roesner and wife, Abbey and Zachary Roesner; great-granddaughter, Rylie Roesner; brothers and sisters and spouses, Bill and Sue Lawrence and Bob Lawrence, of Poplar Bluff, Phyllis and Wilburn Mausey, of Springfield, Kenneth and Suzanne Lawrence, of Boss, David and Brenda Lawrence, of Caruthersville and Lyman Lawrence, of Waynesville; in addition to several nieces and nephews.

            He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Ruby Lawrence and a brother, Jackie Lawrence.

            Visitation was held from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at the Myers Funeral Home in Middletown.

            Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, September 11, 2019 at the funeral home.  Rev. Kenneth Parker officiated.  Special music was provided by Tom and Janice Cahall. 

            Burial was in Fairmount Cemetery in Middletown.  Serving as pallbearers were his grandsons, Samuel Bisanti, Aaron Lawrence, Brandon Lawrence, Clayton Morgan, Gregory Morgan, Lane Roesner and Zachary Roesner. 

            Full Military Honors were provided by the Wellsville VFW Post 3056.  Missouri Military Funeral Honors folded and presented the United States Flag to his wife, Phyllis.
