          Ernest Andrew Bentley, 85, of Martinsburg, passed away Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at Gamma Road Lodge in Wellsville.

          Mr. Bentley was born November 17, 1932 in Wellsville, Missouri, a son of William Neff and Bernice Belle (Brandenburg) Bentley.

          He was a 1952 graduate of Wellsville High School.

          Ernest served his country in the United States Army, entering on February 17, 1953 and being honorably discharged on January 11, 1955.  He was the recipient of the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal.

          He had farmed with his brother, Jim, for many years.  Ernest enjoyed taking care of the cattle and had a sense of gentleness with them.  More than anything, he liked spending time with his family.

          Ernest is survived by his brother, Roy Manley Bentley, of Mobile, Alabama; nieces and nephews and spouses, Kathy Lynn, of Mexico, Diane Louise Dunakey, of Wellsville, Donna Joanne and Chris Dickel, of Green Castle, Esther Ilene and Daren Swaim, of Martinsburg, Doris Elaine and Mark Davis, of Montgomery City, Rita Carol and Albert Wright, of Martinsburg, Della Jean and Chris Bohr, of Martinsburg, Agnes Marie “Aggie” and Ray Kent, of New Florence, Robert M. “Bob” and Connie Nichols, of Madison, Barbara Ann Langford, of St. Louis, Tommy Langford, of St. Louis, Roy Wade Bentley, of Mobile, Alabama and Alan Bentley, of Mobile, Alabama.

          He was preceded in death by his parents; infant sister, Mary Francis Bentley; sisters, Gloria Margaret Langford, Alma Maurine Nichols and Dixie Lee King; brother, James Pearson Bentley; nieces, Joyce Nichols and Betty Lou Nichols and nephew, David Langford.

          Visitation was held from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 10, 2018 at the Myers Funeral Home in Wellsville.

          Funeral services were at 11:00 a.m., Monday, at the funeral home.  Rev. Justin Keith officiated.

          Burial was in the Wellsville Cemetery.  Serving as pallbearers were his nephews, Chris Bohr, Mark Davis, Chris Dickel, Ray Kent, Daren Swaim and Albert Wright. 

          Full Military Honors were provided by Wellsville VFW Post 3056.   Missouri Military Funeral Honors Detail Team folded and presented the United States Flag.
