Michelle Marie (Zerr) Lehnen

July 18, 1973 ~ August 8, 2019 (age 46)

          Michelle Marie (Zerr) Lehnen, 46, of Wellsville, passed away Thursday, August 8, 2019 at her home, surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer.  Despite the adversity she faced, she kept her faith, positive attitude and bright smile no matter how tough her day may have been.

          Michelle was born July 18, 1973 in St. Charles, Missouri, a daughter of Vernon Paul and JoAnn Marie (Ochs) Zerr. 

          She was a 1991 graduate of Wellsville-Middletown R-1 High School.

          On November 10, 1990 at the United Methodist-Presbyterian Church in Wellsville, she married Matthew Thomas “Matt” Lehnen.  They shared over 28 years of marriage together and were the parents of two sons.

          Michelle was a member of the Wellsville United Methodist-Presbyterian Church, where she was very active in the church and served on several committees including the Women’s Group and PPR. 

          She had worked at Wicks Outdoor Works in Montgomery City, Corporate Resource Management in Montgomery City and was a school cook at Wellsville-Middletown R-1.  Most recently, she owned and operated Michelle’s Helpers Plus until she was diagnosed with cancer.

          Michelle enjoyed cross stitch.  She loved being around the water and always loved going to the Lake and the Landing.  Her pride and joy was her grandson, Chase.

          Michelle was a kind and giving soul, willing to help anyone in their time of need.  A heart full of love for everyone she knew was an inspiration to so many and will be missed by all who crossed paths with her. 

          Michelle is survived by her husband, Matthew Thomas “Matt” Lehnen, of the home in Wellsville; sons, Zachary Christopher Lehnen and wife, Tessa, of Troy and Blake Thomas Lehnen, of Wellsville; grandson, Chase Austin Lehnen, of Troy; soon to be granddaughter, Carly Marie Lehnen; parents, Vernon and JoAnn Zerr, of Wellsville; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lande and Faye Lehnen, of Wellsville; sisters and brother, Wendy VanHorn and husband, Chris, of Jonesburg, Jeff Zerr and wife, Kristal, of Rhineland and Valerie Weiss and husband, Mason, of Wentzville; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Karla and Cletus Higgenbotham, of Wellsville and Heather Stark and fiancé, Charles Bailey, of LaGrange; in addition to several nieces and nephews and countless friends.

          She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Clarence and Berdella Ochs and Clarence and MaryAnn Zerr and grandparents-in-law, DC and Peirre Lehnen and Richard and Mardella Langford.

          Visitation was held from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m., Sunday, August 11, 2019 at the Wellsville United Methodist-Presbyterian Church. 

          Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m., Monday, August 12, 2019 at the church.  Rev. Dawn Gerard officiated.

          Burial was in the Wellsville Cemetery.  Serving as pallbearers were Charles Bailey, Cletus Higgenbotham, Derrick Hunolt, Hunter Stark, Nicholas Stark, Chris Van Horn, Mason Weiss and Jeff Zerr.  Honorary pallbearers were Ella Van Horn, Corbin Weiss, Lily Weiss, Alaina Zerr, Jaylynn Zerr, Korrin Zerr, Lydia Zerr, Cody Higgenbotham, Kimberley Kirkpatrick, James and Melissa Burton, Patricia Cullom and Don and Ann Harness.

          Services were under the direction of the Myers Funeral Home in Wellsville.
