Norma Jean “Grandma” Bowlin, 85, of New Florence, passed away Saturday, November 2, 2019 at Gamma Road Lodge in Wellsville.
Mrs. Bowlin was born December 5, 1933 in Atlanta, Indiana, a daughter of Curtis and Lillian Mae (Heagle) Miller.
On June 3, 1956 in Noblesville, Indiana, she married Shelby Mack Bowlin. They were married over 48 years before he preceded her in death on November 24, 2004.
Norma Jean had lived in New Florence most of her life. She was a member of the Faith Tabernacle Pentecostal Church in Montgomery City. Norma Jean was a volunteer for Wee Care Food Ministry.
She had worked at Beacon Shoe Factory in Jonesburg as a cementer of shoes for many years.
Norma Jean also known as Grandma to many, loved helping other people. She hand stitched many teddy bears for the ambulance and police department to give out to kids to help comfort them. Norma Jean made the best banana pudding and at times the grandkids were known to fight over it. She loved to talk on the phone, always wanting to make sure her family was ok. More than anything, she enjoyed spending time with her family.
Norma Jean is survived by her four children, Ricky Allen Bowlin, of New Florence, Richard Lee “Dicky” Bowlin, of Perry, Rosemary Elaine Stiers, of New Florence and Ruby Ann Morris, of Martinsburg; seven grandchildren, Jason DeLozier, Shonda Logerman, Christina Bowlin, Betty Jean Ramos, Richard “DJ” Bowlin, Jr., Jacob Hollomon and Nick Morris; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Carla Barker, of Mexico; in addition to her 16 kids at Teddy Joe’s.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Shelby Mack Bowlin and brothers and sisters, Mildred Niccum, Mary Dulworth, Dorothy Davis, Jack Miller, Raymond Miller and Charles Miller.
A Celebration of Life Service was at 1:00 p.m., Sunday, November 10, 2019 at the New Florence Community Building.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Myers Funeral Home in Wellsville.
