Robert Glenn “Bob” Yelton, 70, of Wellsville, passed away Friday, November 30, 2018 at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, Missouri.
Mr. Yelton was born September 7, 1948 in Mexico, Missouri, a son of Glenn Julius and Hazel Mae (Cook) Yelton.
He was a 1966 graduate of Wellsville-Middletown R-1 High School.
On August 3, 1974 at the Christian Church in Benton City, he married Patricia Ann Schofield, sharing over 44 years of marriage together. Bob had lived in Wellsville his entire life and Bob and Patricia lived at their present address all of their married life.
Bob had worked at Wellsville IGA for over 40 years. He was Co-Manager for several years, until he retired in 2010 due to the store closing.
He was a member of Benton City Christian Church. Bob was also a member of Sportsman Lake.
Bob was an avid sports fan with Kansas City Chiefs football and St. Louis Cardinals baseball being his favorite teams to watch. He enjoyed bass and trout fishing, bird hunting and mushroom hunting. Bob liked playing horseshoes and had played in many tournaments that he won several trophies. He also liked bowling and in his younger years, he enjoyed playing softball. Bob’s favorite past time was watching his grandchildren play in their sporting events and spending time with them.
Bob is survived by his wife, Patricia Ann Yelton, of the home in Wellsville; son and daughter-in-law, Brian Glenn and Angela Dawn Yelton, of Perry; daughter and son-in-law, Melissa Ann and Troy Hutcheson, of Montgomery City; six grandchildren, Skyler Cade, Logan Thomas and Kinsley Ann Hutcheson, of Montgomery City and Callie Grace, Olivia Faith and Brendan Douglas Yelton, of Perry and sister, Judith Mae Yelton, of Mexico.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Hazel Yelton.
Visitation was held from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m., Monday, December 3, 2018 at the Myers Funeral Home in Wellsville.
Funeral services were at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at the funeral home. Rev. Gary Pillischafske and Rev. Terry Mackey officiated.
Burial was in the Wellsville Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Brian Yelton, Brendan Yelton, Troy Hutcheson, Charles Mitchell, Chad Schofield, Aaron Shaefer, Chris Shaefer and Richard Wilson. Honorary pallbearers were Skyler Hutcheson, Logan Hutcheson, Kinsley Hutcheson, Callie Yelton, Olivia Yelton and Dustin Schofield.
