Albert Lee Davis 98 of rural Benton City, Missouri, passed away on Thursday January 20, 2022, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Mexico, Missouri where he had been a resident since 2014.

Graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 24, 2022, at Benton City Cemetery. Myers Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Mr. Davis is survived by one niece, Bernice (Davis) Swaim of rural Martinsburg Missouri, as well as several great nieces and nephews.

Mr. Davis was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Fannie (Tratchel) Davis, and a brother, Robert, his wife Amelia (Haiducek) Davis, as well as a sister Dora Davis and a nephew Walter Davis.

Albert farmed the family farm East of Benton City for many years.

He served in the US Army in Europe during WW II and was wounded receiving a Purple Heart.

Mr. Davis grew up attended the Benton City Christian Church and later the Martinsburg Christian Church.

Albert loved old Trains and old Farm machinery, attending Old Thrasher Conventions both locally and out of State. His love of Trains led him at one point, back when Passenger Trains still ran locally, to board a Train locally, and head West to Denver and on to Southern California via Salt Lake City. Upon arriving at the Train station, he walked across the station and bought a ticket for a different Rail line and returned home taking the Southern Route.

His love of travel was not limited to the rails. He loved to repeat a joke that Minnie Pearl told on stage when he saw her at the Grand Ole Opera, about her brother dragging a log chain down the road. A stranger stopped and asked him why he was dragging a chain down the road, the response was, "you ever try pushing one."
