Albert "Glenn" Freyer, 88, of Wellsville, passed away at 4:15 a.m. Tuesday September 19, 2023, at his home with his wife and children at his side.

Memorial services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday September 23, 2023, at Myers Funeral Home in Wellsville, with Rev. Steve Belko officiating.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.

Mr. Freyer was born November 6, 1934, in Laddonia, Missouri. He was the only child of A.W. "Al" and Frances (Dillard) Freyer.

On September 23, 1961, in Wellsville, he married Joyce Blackshaw. They were the parents of two children and were happily married for nearly 62 years. Joyce survives at the home.

He was a 1952 graduate from Wellsville High School. After graduation he joined his father in farming until he started work as a rural letter carrier serving the Wellsville-Middletown Post offices. He retired on December 13, 1991. He also served his country in the US Army in Verdun, France from 1957 to 1959.

Glenn enjoyed playing cards, camping, and traveling. He was an active member of the Wellsville Christian Church until it closed in 2017. Glenn and Joyce then attended the Montgomery City Christian Church.

In addition to his wife Joyce, survivors include one son, Kriss Freyer, of Middletown; one daughter, Kimberly Schupp (Greg) of St. Peters; grandchildren, Olivia Freyer and fiancé Spencer Sickmann, of St. Louis, Tracey Freyer, of Hannibal, William Schupp, of Summerville, South Carolina, Lauren Schupp, Jordan Schupp Kerns (Tommy), of St. Peters, and Carson Schupp Plegge (Jessie), of Wentzville; great grandchildren, Bennett Freyer, Thorin Plegge, and Thomas Kerns; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorials may be given to the Penn Scholarship Wellsville-Middletown RI School District, the Wellsville Library, or to the Montgomery City Christian Church. They may be sent in care of Myers Funeral Home, 203 E. Bates Street, Wellsville, MO 63384.
