Alma Marie Weilmuenster, 79, of Ballwin, formerly of Middletown, passed away at 5:05 p.m., Saturday, April 9, 2016 at St. Luke's Hospital in Chesterfield.

Mrs. Weilmuenster was born July 10, 1936, in Middletown, Missouri, a daughter of Charles David and Helen Marie (Hendricks) May.

She was a 1954 graduate of Wellsville High School.

On June 13, 1954, at the Methodist Church in Middletown, Missouri, she married Howard James Weilmuenster.Howard and Alma celebrated over 61 years of marriage together.

Alma and Howard have lived in Ballwin since 1955.

She was a member of Salem Methodist Church in Ballwin. Alma was a member of United Methodist Women where she helped fix numerous dinners and had also sewed banners for the church walls.

Alma was a member of DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution) and also the Quilters Guild.

She was a homemaker and housewife. Alma had worked part time at the Hallmark Store in Ballwin, and provided childcare service in her home for two years in order to finance a trip to Israel. She had done sewing alterations, made clothing and curtains, and could iron like a pro. Alma also worked with her husband, Howard, in his sign shop.

Alma enjoyed reading, oil painting, cake decorating, crocheting, numerous arts and craft projects and flower gardening. Her passion was quilting, she hand pieced and hand quilted all of her many quilts. She was a devotee of genealogy, and spent countless hours in the documentation of her family tree.She was a Prayer Warrior for many people.

Alma and Howard made piano rolls of music from the Ragtime era of 1895-1915 that had never been produced by any commercial providers. Howard decided he could hand draw them and then he and Alma hand cut them with an X-acto knife.

She was a womanwho was well respected and deeply beloved.

Alma is survived by her husband, Howard James Weilmuenster, of the home in Ballwin; son, David Michael Weilmuenster and wife, Abby, of Franklin, Tennessee; daughters, Janice Marie Hardy and husband, David, of Carrollton, Texas and Joy Lynn Crain, of Windsor Missouri; grandchildren and spouses, Jennifer Lynn and BJ Martinez, of Windsor, Missouri, Angela Marie Hardy, of Dallas, Texas and Danielle Renee and Wade Jarman-Hardy, of Arlington, Texas; great-grandchildren, Lilyan Michelle Martinez, Luke Joseph Martinez, Megan Lexi Martinez and Amarillo Lalani Martinez, of Windsor, Missouri; brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles David and Twila May, of LaPalma, California and Loyd Leslie and Marilu May, of Lake Stevens, Washington; sister and brother-in-law, Catherine Louise and Richard LeMasters, of Raymore, Missouri; in addition to nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Helen May; son-in-law, Larry Crain and nephew, Jeffrey Charles LeMasters.

Funeral services were at 12:00 noon, Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at the Myers Funeral Home in Middletown. Hugh Lehnen officiated. Special music was provided by Jim and Nancy Dunn.

Visitation was held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service, Wednesday, at the funeral home.

Burial was in Fairmount Cemetery in Middletown, Missouri. Serving as pallbearers were Dennis Lehnen, Kerry Lehnen, Lande Lehnen, Berwyn Lewis, Dan May and Greg May.
