Alvin Herman Kleinsorge, 75, of Columbia, passed away Sunday, July 23, 2017 at Boone Hospital in Columbia, Missouri.
Mr. Kleinsorge was born July 25, 1941 in Wellsville, Missouri, a son of Edwin Herman and Clara Lillie (Plettenberg) Kleinsorge.
Alvin served his country in the U.S. Air Force entering on October 31, 1960 and being honorably discharged on September 15, 1964.
On December 30, 1960, at Trinity Lutheran Church in rural Wellsville, he married Marie Ann Cullom. They were the parents of 2 children.
Alvin had lived in Columbia since returning from the Air Force.
He had been the owner and operator of Central Missouri Heating/Cooling, Inc. with his son, Kevin since 1990. Alvin had worked for Union Sheet Metal Workers Local 36 from 1968-1990. In 1958, he started in the heating and cooling industry.
Alvin loved to fish and hunt, with quail and deer being his favorites. He loved his bird dogs, going to auctions, farming and antique tractors. More than anything, he loved spending time with his family and friends.
Alvin is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Kevin Alvin and Cathy Kleinsorge, of Stephens; daughter, Kaytina Marie Harrison, of Columbia; four grandchildren, Kyle Edwin Kleinsorge, of Columbia, Macey Ann Kleinsorge, of Calwood and Clayton Paul Harrison and Gabe Jennings Harrison, of Grand Junction, Colorado; sister, Erma Rosalie Sanders, of Topeka, Kansas and close companion friend, Hazel Magers, of Hallsville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Clara Kleinsorge; grandson, Ryan McCray Thompson; sister, Juanita Clara Freie; brother, Arthur Edwin Kleinsorge and nephew, Arthur Wayne Kleinsorge.
Funeral services were at 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 28, 2017 at the Myers Funeral Home in Wellsville. Rev. Donaldo Sonntag officiated. Serving as organist was Eldora Lowry.
Burial was in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in rural Wellsville. Serving as pallbearers were Ronnie Freie, Mike Kleinsorge, Robert Kleinsorge, Berry Cullom, Kyle Kleinsorge, Steven Cole, Clay Harrison and Gabe Harrison.
Full Military Honors were provided by Wellsville VFW Post 3056. Missouri Military Funeral Honors folded and presented the U.S. Flag.
Visitation was held from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m., Thursday, July 27, 2017 at the funeral home.
