Barry Gene Fitzgerald, 85, of St. Charles, passed away at 9:35 a.m., Saturday, May 17, 2025.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 30, 2025 at Middletown Baptist Church in Middletown, Missouri with Reverend Dick Hinson officiating.
Visitation will be on Friday, May 30, 2025, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Middletown Baptist Church in Middletown, Missouri.
Barry was born May 1, 1940 in Middletown, Missouri. He was the son of Roy and Elizabeth (Fuhr) Fitzgerald. On August 18, 1961 he married the love of his life, Bonnie Alderson at Middletown Baptist Church in Middletown, Missouri.
Barry earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Ceramic Engineering and began his professional career at McDonnell Douglas Aircraft Company, where he specialized in ceramic coatings used in aviation. Later, he followed his true calling and became a full-time farmer. Barry loved working the land, raising cattle, and attending cattle sales, specifically with Brangus cattle. At one time, he and Bonnie managed a herd of 100 head of cattle. During his off time, he also worked with H&R Block helping others, including his friends and family members, with their taxes.
Beyond his professional life, Barry found joy in many hobbies. He loved to golf and was a member of Loutre Shore Country Club where he loved meeting up with friends for a round of golf and good conversation. He loved boating and took great pride in teaching his children, other family and friends how to water ski. He and Bonnie were avid travelers, exploring many of the world's wonders together, and they especially cherished spending winters in Gulf Shores, Alabama.
Known for his warm spirit and quick wit, Barry loved to laugh and had a gift for making others laugh too. His sense of humor and joy for life left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
In addition to his wife Bonnie, survivors include one son, Greg Fitzgerald (Becky) of Euless, Texas; and one daughter, Lisa Heinrich (Steve) of St. Peters, Missouri; one sister, Nina Roberts (Rusty) of Springfield, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Lauren Mulroy (Joe) of Houston, Texas, Ryan Fitzgerald (Payton) of Fort Worth Texas, Kylie Robinson (Taylor) of Fort Worth Texas, Evan Heinrich (Sydney) of Wentzville, Missouri, Erin Gueck (Ryan) of Lake St. Louis, Missouri, Jack Heinrich of St. Peters, Missouri, Matt Bolton of Dallas, Texas, and Andrew Bolton (Kyla) of Keller, Texas; and seven great grandchildren Eliza, Easton, Emma, Sutton, Brooks, Crue, and Carson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Fern Fitzgerald.
