Bernard "Bernie" Hodgerson, 75, of Montgomery City, Missouri, passed away Tuesday January 10, 2023, at Harry S. Truman Veterans Hospital in Columbia MO.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday March 4, 2023, at the Montgomery City United Methodist Presbyterian Church. Private burial will follow at the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery near West Ely, Missouri.

Bernie was born March 23, 1947, in Marceline, Missouri.  He was the son of Eugene and Catherine (Oldham) Hodgerson. Bernie served his country in the US Navy during the Vietnam Conflict 1965-1967.  On June 7, 2002, in Wellsville Missouri, he married Carol Virginia Feldkamp. She preceded him in death on March 24, 2022.

Bernie enjoyed going to casinos, dancing, camping and wintering in Texas. For many years he worked as a small engine repairman and later retired from the Missouri Department of Corrections.

Survivors include three daughters; Darlene Simmons and husband, Ed, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Alane Appling and husband, Lowell, of Moberly, Missouri and DeAnna Babington and husband, Richard, of Darden Prairie, Missouri; one sister, Jeanne Burris of Whiteland, Indiana;  one niece Rogenia Burris; and one great niece; 5 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Nathan Smith.
