Betty E. Wicklein Dodson, 95, of Wellsville, Missouri, passed away June 24, 2022 at Gamma Road Lodge, Wellsville.

Private burial was held in Wellsville Cemetery. Myers Funeral Home in Wellsville handled the arrangements.

Betty was born January 9, 1927, in Mexico, Missouri, the daughter of Fred H. Wicklein and Madeline (Brown) Wicklein, life-long residents of the farm community in Wellsville.

Betty graduated from Wellsville High School in May, 1944.  During her junior and senior years she was a pianist for the high school music department, accompanying the glee clubs, vocal groups, and special events.

Following graduation she attended the Central Methodist College in Fayette, Missouri, for two semesters, later transferred to the University of Missouri for additional two semesters, majoring in business practices.

In December 1946 she married Jack E. Dodson.  They lived in Columbia until his graduation in 1950; during that time Betty worked as a medical secretary in the Pathology Department of the University Medical School, continuing work as a medical transcriptionist over the years as time and family duties permitted.

In 1973, retirement brought Betty back to Wellsville where she has lived for the past 49 years.  She has always considered Wellsville and the farm "home".

Survivors include one daughter Denise (Jay) Nefcy of Florence, Oregon, and one son Ted Dodson of Columbia, Missouri; several grandchildren, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister Carolyn (Wicklein) O'Leary; and one brother in law Sam O'Leary; and grandparents Ida and L.J. Brown; Herman and Bertha Wicklein, and three aunts and uncles.
