Betty Lou Lehnen, 88, of Portland, Oregon, passed away on January 4, 2016 at her home with her son by her side.

Betty was born on October 17, 1927, in Wellsville, Missouri, a daughter of George D. and Lorene A. (Mitchell) Duff.

She attended Middletown High School in Middletown, Missouri.

On August 30, 1944, in Vandalia, Missouri, she married Willard Fredrick Lehnen Jr. He preceded her in death on December 10, 2007.

Betty was a loving wife, mother, grand and great grandmother. Those who knew her would say she was sassy and good natured, always ready with a laugh or quick retort. She rarely met a person she didn't like or who she wouldn't chat with, but would never hesitate to speak her mind. She was famous for her southern fried chicken and by all accounts was one of the best cooks around. You didn't pass up a meal at Betty Lou's house!

Betty is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Mickey Lee and Kit Lehnen, of Prineville, Oregon; grandchildren and their spouses, Chris Lehnen, of Huntington Beach, California, Joe and Allison Lehnen, of Tualaton, Oregon, Suzanne Lehnen, of Vancouver, Washington, Josh and Jennifer Lehnen and son Lucas, of Toledo, Oregon, Charley Lehnen, of Lincoln City, Oregon; niece, Linda Lou Houser, of Mexico; sister-in-law, Judy Blaue and husband, Dale, of Wellsville and Betty Joyce Keller, of Madras, Oregon; in addition to their families and numerous other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard Fredrick Lehnen Sr.; son, Robert Keith "Bob" Lehnen; father, George Duff; mother, Lorene Duff Bocklitz; sister, Margaret Hollensteiner and brother, David Duff.

Memorial services were at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 23, 2016 at Myers Funeral Home in Middletown, Missouri. Rev. Luke Wolters officiated. Serving as organist was Beth Schnitker. Soloist was Emily Blaue.

Burial of her cremains followed the service at Fairmount Cemetery in Middletown, Missouri.

Visitation was held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service, Saturday, at the funeral home.
