Betty Lou Nichols, 58, of Bowling Green, passed away Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at Ruth Jensen Village Residential Services in Bowling Green, Missouri.
Betty was born March 24, 1959 in Wellsville, Missouri, a daughter of Roy E. and Alma Maurine (Bentley) Nichols.
Betty lived at Marshall Habilitation Center until December 1990. She then moved to Ruth Jensen Village where she remained until her death.
During her life, Betty taught everyone around her patience, love and compassion. Staff loved and cared for Betty while living at Ruth Jensen. Betty lived with five other housemates and was especially close to her roommate and dear friend, Lydia.
Betty attended Community Living Skills Adult Day Program from 1990 until 2012 and retired due to health issues. While at day program, Betty enjoyed socializing with her friends and working on her craft projects.
Betty is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Robert Michael "Bob" and Connie Nichols, of Madison; nieces, Melissa Joyce Langhofer and husband, Doug, of Plains, Kansas, and Brooke McGuire and husband, Jonathan, of Centralia; nephew, Benjamin Baker and wife, Adrienne, of Jefferson City and great nieces and great nephews, Kaylen and Cole Langhofer, of Plains, Kansas, and Isabella and Connor McGuire, of Centralia.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Joyce Fern Nichols.
Funeral services were at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at the Myers Funeral Home in Wellsville. Rev. Don Amelung officiated.
Burial was in the Wellsville Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Ruth Jensen Village Residential Staff.
Visitation was held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service, Tuesday, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions were suggested to Ruth Jensen Village Memorial Fund (Craft Department) c/o Myers Funeral Home, 203 East Bates Street, Wellsville, MO 63384.
