William (Bill) Harvey McClain, age 89, of Wellsville passed away peacefully Sunday, September 11, 2022, at Gamma Road Lodge in Wellsville, surrounded by his family.

Bill was born September 30, 1932, in Miami, Missouri.  He was the son of Harvey (Jeff) Edward and Dorothy Elizabeth (David) McClain.  On October 5, 1952, he and Peggy Ann Williams were married in Vandalia, Missouri.  Peggy preceded him in death on February 2, 2005.

Bill previously owned McClain Lime Quarry and Safari Campground in Danville and Martinsburg Lime Quarry.  He also raised black angus cattle, and was an avid collector of antique cars, trucks and quarry equipment.

Bill was an Army Veteran of the Korean War, serving two years from 1953-1955 in Korea and Japan.  He was able to attend the honor flight on October 15, 2013.

Bill was involved in many organizations through-out his life.  He was an active board member of Missouri Girls Town, member of AM Investment Club, Moolah Shriners, St Louis and Mid Missouri Shriners Club Montgomery Lodge #246, where he received his 50-year Mason pin in 2017.  He was a life member of the VFW and First United Methodist Presbyterian Church.  He was formerly involved as a board member of Wellsville Public Building Corporation, Montgomery County Historical Society, and Chairman of the Board for Montgomery County Bank.

Bill is survived by two daughters, Linda Lee Brace and husband Steve of St Charles Missouri, Teresa Ann Thomas, Middletown, Missouri and one son Dennis Harvey McClain of Wellsville.  Four grandchildren, Rebecca Marie Norfleet and husband Matt of O'Fallon, Missouri, Kimberly Beth Stephens of Hallsville Missouri, Justin Edward Brace of Warrensburg, Missouri and Melissa Ann Darr of Ashland, Missouri.  Five great grandchildren, Lydia and Kaylee Stephens, Brett and Aaron Norfleet and Payton Darr and family friend, Jeana Houf.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by one son in law, Leland Keith Thomas.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, September 15, 2022 at 11 am at United Methodist Presbyterian Church in Wellsville, Missouri.  Officiating is Rev. Paul Catterton and Rev. John Foster.  Interment will follow at the Wellsville City Cemetery with full military honors provided by Wellsville VFW Post #3056.  The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 14, 2022 from 4-7:30 pm with Masonic Service at 7:30 pm at the Myers Funeral Home Wellsville.
