Billy John "Bill" Barker, Jr., 64, of Williamsburg, passed away at 3:25 a.m., Sunday, November 12, 2017 at Gamma Road Lodge in Wellsville, Missouri.

Mr. Barker was born May 19, 1953, in Wichita, Kansas, a son of Billy John Barker, Sr. and Genevieve French Barker.

He was a 1972 graduate of McDonald County High School.

Bill served his country in the United States Marine Corps entering on May 1, 1973 and being honorably discharged on March 26, 1976. He was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal and Rifleman-expert.

On June 16, 1984, in St. Clair, Missouri, he married Phyllis Ann Hern. They have lived at their present address in Williamsburg for the past 22 years. Prior to that, Bill and Phyllis lived 11 years in St. Clair, and Bill lived in the Joplin area before that.

Bill had been employed at North Callaway R-1 School for the last 9 years as a maintenance worker. Prior to that, he had been a truck driver for United Van Lines for over 15 years.

He was an avid horseman and lived for his horses. Bill enjoyed barrel racing, trail riding and tinkering in the barn. More than anything, he loved his grandchildren.

Bill is survived by his wife, Phyllis Ann Barker, of the home in Williamsburg; step-children, Cynthia Ann Houf, of Wellsville and Troy Michael Rafferty and wife, Jill, of Laddonia; grandchildren, Haley Houf and fiance' Darin Sehlke, of Grain Valley, Cassie and Mike Segraves, of Jacksonville, Illinois, Kolbie Houf, of Wellsville and Levi and Rylee Rafferty, of Laddonia; great-grandson, Landon Segraves, of Jacksonville, Illinois; in addition to six brothers and sisters.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation was held from 2:00-6:00 p.m., Saturday, November 18, 2017 at Williamsburg Elementary School in Williamsburg.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Myers Funeral Home in Wellsville.

In lieu of flowers, memorials were suggested to the American Diabetes Association or Central Missouri Honor Flight c/o Myers Funeral Home, 203 East Bates Street, Wellsville, MO 63384.
