Carl David Oligschlaeger, 80, of rural Wellsville passed away on Saturday, November 6, 2021.

He was born to John and Gertrude (Scheulen) Oligschlaeger on August 6, 1941. Carl lived in rural Martinsburg during his childhood days becoming a member of St Joseph Parish and attended St Joseph school and Community R-6 before moving to Wellsville at age 15. He graduated from WM R-1 in 1959. As a child, he spent his summers living and working on his Uncle Gus Oligschlaeger's farm where he learned the value of hard work and a job well done. As a teenager, Carl worked for Arnold Fennewald Construction where he gained valuable skills and personal attributes which served him well all of his life.

After graduating high school he worked briefly at Wellsville Fire Brick and the US Postal Office while serving in the MO National Guard from 1959-1964.

In1965, Carl was united in marriage to Jeane Spiers. He purchased the Sinclair Service station and ran a business of gas sales, service work, and car sales for 50 years before retiring.

The Oligschlaegers became the parents of two sons: David and his wife Marney of Shelbyville, IL and Daniel and his wife Jody of rural Millersburg.  There are 4 grandchildren, Allison and Emily Oligschlaeger of Shelbyville, IL, and Gretchen and Thomas Oligschlaeger of Millersburg. Carl was proud of his sons and referred to them as "my boys". He was delighted when they married and added two wonderful daughters to the family. His love and pride in his grandchildren was immeasurable.

Carl never quit trying to help his kids in all aspects of life. They both know if it's raining outside they will hear "better slow down a bit, the roads are wet", or "if running late don't speed, you can't make up time on the road. Have you had your oil changed recently? Leave a football field length between you and the next car." Life suggestions that are indelibly printed on their brains

Great delight was found in the coffee groups and happy hour friends through the years. He missed many old friends who passed before him and loved to tell tales of their times together. Carl enjoyed the customers he served over the years. No job was too big or complicated. He loved a challenge and enjoyed being busy. Work was his passion. Farming was added to his job load when he purchased land outside of Wellsville where he built a home. He relished all the farm chores from cutting brush to row cropping and feeding cattle.

He is survived by his wife, Jeane Oligschlaeger, sons and their families, a brother Lawrence, a sister in law Ruthie Oligschlaeger and brothers in law, Larry (Barb) Spiers, Tom (Debi) Spiers, Wally (Mary Pat) Spiers and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death are his parents and eight siblings Paul, Rita Russo, Mary Bollmam, Fritz, John, Ben, Amby, Barbara, parents-in-law Robert and Alice Spiers.

Services will be Saturday, Nov 13, 2021, at Myers Funeral Home in Wellsville.  Visitation is at 10 a.m. with a short service to follow at 11 a.m.  Memorials may be made to the Church of the Resurrection, Wellsville or to the Boone Hospital Foundation.
