Charles Dewitt Wylie, 94, of Webster Groves, passed away Sunday, November 10, 2019 at St. Andrews at Francis Place in Eureka, Missouri, with his family by his side.

Mr. Wylie was born September 13, 1925 in rural Wellsville, Missouri, a son of Leslie and Maude Lorraine (Porter) Wylie.

He was a 1944 graduate of Wellsville High School.

Charlie served his country in the United States Navy – Merchant Marine, serving during World War II.

On October 12, 1946 at the Christian Church in Wellsville, he married Ada Ella Gastler. They have shared over 73 wonderful years together and were the proud parents of three daughters.

Charlie and Ada have lived in Webster Groves since 1965. Prior to that, they had lived in Moline, Illinois and Wood River, Illinois.

Charlie was an Insurance Agent for Allstate Insurance in St. Louis for over 35 years, retiring in 1990.

He was a member of The Lutheran Church of Webster Gardens as well as the Elks Club in Webster Groves.

Charlie and his wife, Ada, were avid golfers and enjoyed regular golf outings with their friends Bernice and Gilbert and Helen and Chief. Charlie and Ada were members of several square dancing clubs and participated in square dance exhibitions.

Charlie was very proud of his children and grandchildren and enjoyed visits and attending their sports events.

Charlie is survived by his wife of 73 years, Ada Ella Wylie, of Webster Groves; daughters and sons-in-law, Winifred and Peter Laucis, of Sunset Hills, Pamela and Jon Petri, of High Ridge and Kimberly and Raymond Stockglausner, of Fenton and five grandchildren and spouses, Zachary and Lindsay Laucis, of Chicago, Nicholas and Anna Laucis, of Detroit, Michigan, Maxwell and Ciara Petri, of St. Peters, Victoria and Ben Haltenhof, of Creve Coeur and Alexis Stockglausner, of Fenton.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters and brothers, Gilbert Wylie, Clyde Wylie, Loeta Burgess, Geneva Williamson and Erma Guthrie.

Funeral services were at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 12, 2019 at the Myers Funeral Home in Wellsville. Rev. Daniel Teuscher officiated. Serving as organist was Eldora Lowry.

Visitation was held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service, Tuesday, at the funeral home.

Burial was in the Wellsville Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Nicholas Laucis, Peter Laucis, Zachary Laucis, Jon Petri, Maxwell Petri and Ray Stockglausner.

Full Military Honors were provided by Wellsville VFW Post 3056. Missouri Military Funeral Honors folded and presented the United States Flag to his wife, Ada.
