Charles Leroy "Charlie" Jackson, 73, of Martinsburg, formerly of Wellsville, passed away at 8:59 a.m. on Friday June 4, 2021, at his home.

Visitation will be Thursday, June 24 ^th from 6pm-8pm at Myers Funeral Home in Wellsville.  A celebration of life will be held Friday, June 25 ^th at 6pm at the Knight of Columbus Hall, 18469 Highway N, Martinsburg.

Charlie was born in Wellsville on September 9, 1947, to parents Charles "Tobe" and Mary (Nye) Jackson. On December 22, 1967, in Wellsville, he married his high school sweetheart, the love of his life, Leonna J. Schwendker. Together they enjoyed raising two sons, Matthew and Michael, whom Charlie was incredibly proud of.

Charlie worked several years at A.P. Green Refractories as a supervisor and 25 years with Hubbell Power Systems/AB Chance where he was also a supervisor until he retired. He made many lasting friendships at both. He led a very active life, enjoying a variety of activities most notably he was a star basketball player in high school for the Wellsville Tigers and earned a full ride scholarship to Westminster College.  He had an amazing scrapbook with all his accomplishments that he loved to share with anyone who asked.  He was on several adult softball teams and played in state tournaments, was an avid golfer, loved to shoot pool, throw horseshoes, throw darts, play poker, and other games of chance. He enjoyed hunting with his family, and prepared his famous sausage, biscuits and gravy for them every opening weekend of deer season. He attended The Brickyard 400 for several years and enjoyed cheering on his favorite sports teams, the Lady Trojans which his granddaughters played for, the Wellsville Tigers which other family and friends played for, the St. Louis Cardinals and MU Tiger's. He enjoyed being out in the sunshine, with a fishing rod in his hand, or just lounging in a chair alongside his sweetie. He had two green thumbs and had a garden the size of a football field and enjoyed canning the produce. He was a talented cook that made sure nobody ever left his home without a full belly. He did not wear his religion on his sleeve, but had a personal, intimate relationship with his Lord and Savior, Jesus. His prayers were always touching and from the heart, there usually was not a dry eye in the room afterwards.

Family and friends were what he cherished most and are left to mourn him, along with his wife Leonna, and sons Matthew Scott Jackson (Patricia), of Martinsburg, and Michael Todd Jackson (Jessica), of Statesville, NC, one brother, John Wesley "JW" Jackson (Debbie),of Mexico, sister Neva English (Mike), of Hawk Point, brother-in-law, Frank Whitley of Shawnee OK, sister-in-law Donna Cooper of Glendale, AZ, sister-in-law Vivian Goss (Dwayne) of Perry, sister-in-law LeeAnn McCoy (Gale) of Wellsville, grandchildren, Samantha Ebers (Steven), of Martinsburg, Danielle Smith (Brennan), of Mexico,  Andrew, Keigan and Brooke Jackson, all of Statesville, NC and Zak Allen (Lesley), of Martinsburg, whom Charlie loved like a grandson, great-grandchildren, Jaxson, Emerson and Aubrie Smith and Finley and Nobel Allen and many friends, cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and in-laws, Leon and Jody Schwendker, Charlie was preceded in death by a sweet sister-in-law, Doris Whitley, great nephew, Danny Whitley, and a great niece, Sydney Seabaugh.
