Dale Edward Canterbury, 84, of Wellsville, passed away peacefully at 10:40 a.m. Monday August 29, 2022, at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon, Friday September 2, 2022, at Myers Funeral Home in Wellsville with Rev. John Foster officiating.  Burial will follow in Wellsville Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service at the funeral home.

Dale was born August 12, 1938, in Wellsville, Missouri, a son of Loyd Lester and Lillian Almeta (Moore) Canterbury. On February 2, 1969, in Martinsburg, he married Sandra Laverne Dixon who survives.

Dale graduated from Wellsville High school in 1956 and was the president of his local FFA Chapter his senior year. Initially working for MFA he traveled over the state of Missouri organizing and managing the construction of numerous new MFA operations. He then worked for VC Mobil Chemical company selling fertilizer and chemicals until the early 1980's when he and Sandy started their own business, Canterbury Farm Center, where he would spend the next 30 plus years selling fertilizer, chemicals, seed and Purina feed. After retirement Dale enjoyed spending time with his family, tending to his cow herd and watching Cardinal baseball. Dale did not know a stranger and loved to listen to others as much as to share his own stories. He had a contagious smile and laugh that will be greatly missed.

In addition to his wife Sandy, survivors include three sons, Marty (Carolyn) Canterbury of Wellsville, Matthew (Melissa) Canterbury of Wellsville, and Larry (Molly) Stotler of Vandalia; one brother Don (Judy) Canterbury of Wellsville; one sister Barbara (Joe) Foster of Wellsville; one sister-in-law Carole Canterbury of Wellsville; eight grandchildren, Morgan and Mitchell Canterbury, of Wellsville, Paige (Brendan) Crabill, of Fulton, Payten Canterbury, of Wellsville,  Shanna (Chris) Cameron, of Memphis, Tenn., Dalton Stotler of Columbia,   Kenleigh Epperson, of Center, and August Stotler of Vandalia.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Joe Canterbury and a niece Melissa Bextermueller.
