David Ray DeLozier, 63, of Wellsville, passed away on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at SSM Hospital Lake St. Louis.

Funeral services will be held at Noon on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at Myers Funeral Home in Wellsville. Burial will follow in the Wellsville Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday, November 9, 2024 at the funeral home.

David was born on June 9, 1961 at MU Hospital in Columbia, MO, the son of John Edward DeLozier Sr. and Bonnie Lorene (Gaston) Boyer.  He was previously married to Danita Guillory.

David was the proud owner of DeLozier Painting, where he was known for quality work despite having to overcome restrictions and limitations related to a spinal cord injury from a motor vehicle accident back in 1986. He transformed many homes, barns, and businesses with dedication and a commitment to excellence.  Prior to the accident that confined him to a wheelchair, David began his career by learning the ropes in the offshore industry. He worked as a deck-hand on tugboats as a young man (16yrs old), and later served as supervisor on several oil rigs, where he managed multiple work crews to paint, preserve, and update new and old oil rig platforms. Louisiana became David's home away from home for a short time of his early life.

David was a beloved member of the Wellsville community, who loved his Family and Friends dearly. David was known by everyone in town and cherished the opportunity to help anyone in need of a helping hand or a prayer. His dedication to prayer, no matter the circumstances, was a testament to his strong faith and character. David was passionate about life; In his younger years he loved to fish and play guitar. After his accident, he greatly enjoyed playing poker with friends or blackjack at the casino. Most of all, he loved being an Uncle and a Father; It was his truest source of happiness and motivation.

Proud of his last name, David made sure everyone knew that integrity was important to him and his family. He took immense pride in his children and grandchildren, always sharing stories of their accomplishments and character. David was very outspoken about his love and admiration of his family.  He had a great life of creating lasting memories with his children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews that admired him as the family "Rock".  He was always accountable for his family. David had a unique twinkle in those blue eyes, a smirk when he laughed, a soft heart when he scolded you, and the ability to always forgive. The impact that he made on so many others will never be forgotten. David will be missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Survivors include his sons, Joshua David DeLozier of Columbia, Casey Adam DeLozier (Kim) of Schriever, Louisiana, Brandon Michael DeLozier (Sonnie) of Gibson, Louisiana, and Austin Oberhaus of Wellsville; seven grandchildren Aleigha DeLozier, Jayce DeLozier, Brayden DeLozier, Brendyn DeLozier, Adriana DeLozier, Elijah DeLozier, and Hunter Oberhaus; brother Ralph DeLozier; sisters Donna Royer (Jen) and Sheila DeLozier.

David was preceded in death by his parents, one son, William Dean "D.J." DeLozier, two brothers William "Billy" DeLozier and John "Sonny" DeLozier Jr., and one sister, Sandra Morris.
