David C. Lybarger, 62, of Russellville, Mo. entered into his next life on Saturday May 13, 2023 at SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital - Jefferson City.

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday May 18, 2023, at Myers Funeral Home in Middletown.

David was born October 21, 1960, in Columbia, Missouri. He was the son of Henry Ford and Pauline (Lovelace) Lybarger.

He graduated from Wellsville-Middletown High school in 1979.

David was united in marriage on September 18, 1998 to Dina Thurman, in Jefferson City, Mo.

From the meat locker in Middletown to the oil rigs of Oklahoma, to Charleswood in Wentzville, Mo on to Decora Inc. in Montgomery City, then into construction in Columbia, Mo. This lead to 25 years as a Journeyman Union Carpenter with Local 945 of Jefferson City, Mo.

David was a man of few words, but wise words anytime he spoke. He was always way ahead of the game. A real take charge individual that always but others above himself. This is what made him "always right", but in "No means" a know-it-all.

He enjoyed a plethora of activities outdoors, Crappie fishing, Deer hunting, yard work, vehicle maintenance and making any and everything from wood. Like walking sticks, picture frames, quilt racks, down to toddler size picnic tables, giving them all away to family and close friends near and far.

He had an unsurpassed love of history with a great understanding in military topics. David found great joy in music and guitars, owning more than he needed, and learning to play by sound and knowing that Southern Rock was the only way to go. He was constantly on the move, always something to do or take care of. No time for dawdling!

Having everything taken care of long before anyone else would have noticed that something needed to be done. There wasn't and never will be another like this one. God broke his mold when he made My David!

In addition to his wife Dina, survivors include his mother, Pauline Lovelace Lybarger Keithley, of Bowling Green; one son, Joshua Oligschlaeger, of Middletown; one daughter, Destiny Cook (Jeremy), of Centertown; one brother, Paul Lybarger, of Vandalia; one grandson, Carter Cook, of Centertown; two nephews, Kyle Lybarger (Dawn), of Bowling Green, and Cody Lybarger, of Vandalia; one niece, Tara Horton (DJ), of Vandalia; four great nephews, one great niece, and one great great niece; Many close neighbors and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Henry Lybarger; father-in-law Butch Thurman; father-in-law/dear friend Dennis Zumsteg.

Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society or to Dina Lybarger for Cancer Patient Care Medical Supplies. They may be sent in care of Myers Funeral Home, 203 E. Bates Street, Wellsville, MO 63384.
