David Oliver Stephens, 66, of Middletown, passed away Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at his home, with his loving family by his side.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 28th at the Myers Funeral Home in Wellsville. Rev. Jason Mirikitani will officiate.

Burial will be in the Wellsville Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Rodney Allison, Howard Eckler, Jerry Edens, James "Marty" Mitchell, Rob Starks, and Scott Stephens.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service, Friday, at the funeral home in Wellsville.

Mr. Stephens was born May 25, 1955 in Lebanon, Indiana, a son of David Franklin and Rosemary Helen (Barker) Stephens.

On May 25, 1975 in Williamsburg, Missouri, he married Una Nora Barker. They were married on David's birthday and shared over 46 years of marriage together. David and Una have lived most of their married life in Middletown.

David was a self-employed bulldozer operator, working on waterways as well as doing dirt work.

He was a member of Yucatan Baptist Church in Callaway County and a former Demolay. David had also been a former volunteer firefighter.

David enjoyed fishing and hunting. He loved going on elk trips to Colorado at Gunnison Valley, which is where they filmed the original movie, "True Grit," with John Wayne. He liked cooking breakfast and listening to music, especially 60's music. David raised birds, quail, pheasant, chuckers, and chickens. In his younger years, both as a kid and as a young man, he enjoyed gardening. More than anything, he loved his grandchildren.

David is survived by his wife, Una Nora Stephens, of the home in Middletown; son and daughter-in-law, Adam Joseph and Kayla Stephens, of Middletown; daughter, Lona Gene Starks, of Middletown; grandchildren, Darleen Ann Stephens, Jack Matthew "Matt" Brennan, Makaylie Renae Ruth Brennan, Isaac David Starks, Mia Nicole Starks, Macy Rayne Starks, and Jaylee Nora Irvin, all of Middletown; mother, Rosemary Helen Dodd, of Laddonia; brother, Michael Arza Stephens, of Hemlock, Indiana; in addition to nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, David Franklin Stephens; brother, Phillip Victor Stephens; sister, Charlotte Marie Steele; step-father, Billy Joe Dodd and his beloved uncle, Joseph Homer Stephens.
