David Lee Welschmeyer, 73, of Martinsburg, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, April 6, 2025.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 11. 2025, at  St. Joseph Catholic Church in Martinsburg with Father Derek Hooper officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, April 10, 2025 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Martinsburg.

Born on November 16, 1951, to Stephen and Eunice (Arens) Welschmeyer, Dave spent his entire life in Martinsburg, a place he fondly called "The Center of the Universe." He married the love of his life, Sharon (DeTienne) Welschmeyer, on March 14, 1980, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Together, they built a beautiful life, sharing 45 years of love, faith, and family.

Dave attended Capital Business College, earning an associate degree. He had a deep passion for farming, and he and Sharon were active members of the Missouri Young Farmers Association. A devout Catholic, he was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and an active participant in the Quincy Cursillo Community, expanding his friendships across Missouri, Illinois, and Iowa.

In his younger years, he enjoyed quail hunting, playing slow-pitch softball, and basketball. But his favorite pastime was spending time with those he loved. Dave had a knack for storytelling, leaving everyone with a smile. No matter where he went, Dave was sure to make friends. He was a well-respected farmer, a loyal friend, and a man of unwavering faith.

Dave is survived by his loving wife, Sharon, of Martinsburg; his children, Gen Welschmeyer and friend Christopher Jollen of Mexico, Sarah (Brandon) Dunnavant of Taos, and Mark (Amanda) Welschmeyer of Auxvasse; and grandchildren: Garrett and Charlene Welschmeyer, and Braylynn, Delaney, Davyn, Brynnleigh, and Delilah Dunnavant. He also leaves behind his siblings, Valerie (Steve) Doerr of Joplin, Vickie Robinson of Montgomery City, Venita (Rick) Thomas of Mexico, Darrell Welschmeyer and friend Pam Stuart of Martinsburg, and Vanessa (James) Kerr of Mexico, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his son, Garrett Welschmeyer; his parents; father-in-law Wesley DeTienne; Mother-in-law Joan DeTienne; his brothers-in-law, Randall DeTienne, Wesley DeTienne, and Charlie Robinson; and his sisters-in-law, Joann Marie DeTienne and Barbara Jean Welschmeyer.

Pallbearers honoring Dave are Joshua DeTienne, Stephen Kerr, Michael Robinson, Matthew Thomas, Jonathan Wilburn, and Dewey Fennewald. Honorary pallbearers include Dave's many friends and his Cursillo family, whose love and support are too great to name individually.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, the St. Joseph Catholic School Trust Fund, St. Joseph Catholic School, or a charity of the donor's choice. Donations may be sent in care of Myers Funeral Home, 203 E. Bates Street, Wellsville, MO 63384.
