Doris Kay Cochran, 65, of Middletown, passed away at 9:42 p.m. Monday, September 26, 2016 at the University Hospital in Columbia, Missouri.

Doris was born March 21, 1951, in Mexico, Missouri, a daughter of Floyd Alvin and Clara Bernice (Nichols) Banks.

Doris was baptized in the Methodist Church in Wellsville on April 7, 1963. She was confirmed on January 4, 1970 at Trinity Lutheran Church in rural Wellsville.

On August 17, 1969, at the Grace Lutheran Church in Wellsville, she married Leroy Edward Cochran. They recently celebrated 47 years of marriage.

She was a 1969 graduate of Wellsville-Middletown R-1 High School. Doris continued her education at William Woods in Fulton, from 1997-2000 graduating with her Bachelor of Science in Education. She later obtained her Master of Education.

Doris was a school teacher and had taught History and Math. She was employed at Bowling Green High School for 2 years before teaching at Wellsville-Middletown from 2002-2012.

She had lived in the Wellsville/Middletown area all of her life.

Doris was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in rural Wellsville. She was also a member of Young Farm Wives, 4-H Club Leader and had been a former Softball and T-ball Coach.

She enjoyed sewing and gardening. Doris also liked traveling, playing cards and going out to eat. More than anything, she loved the time she got to spend with her grandchildren.

Doris is survived by her husband, Leroy Edward Cochran, of the home in rural Middletown; daughter and son-in-law, Donna Suzanne and Jonathan Hoek, of Centralia; sons and daughters-in-law, Derrick Edward and Beth Cochran, of Columbia, Kevin Michael and Kristine Cochran, of Lee's Summit and Aaron David and Betsy Cochran, of Lee's Summit; grandchildren, Matthew, Daniel, Katelyn and Abigail Hoek, of Centralia, Paige, Elise and Dallas Cochran, of Columbia, Hailey and Owen Cochran, of Lee's Summit and Jacob Cochran, of Lee's Summit; sisters and brothers-in-law, Janice and Steve Ownby, of Brentwood, Lois and Neil Ahrens, of Martinsburg, Mary and Ray Ketchum, of Galesburg, Michigan; brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Carolyn Banks, of Centralia; in addition to numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Bernice Banks; sister, Linda June Stevenson; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Herbert and Freida Cochran and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Mary and David Lederle.

Visitation was held from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, September 29, 2016 at the Myers Funeral Home in Wellsville.

Funeral services were at 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 30, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church in rural Wellsville. Rev. Keith Clow officiated. Serving as organist was her daughter, Donna Hoek and Carrie Nelson. Special music was provided by her grandsons, Matthew and Daniel Hoek.

Burial was in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in rural Wellsville. Serving as pallbearers were Matthew Hoek, Daniel Hoek, Craig Freie, Dennis Lehnen, Jared Nelson and David Whitehead.
