Dorothy Jean Romaker, 75, of Wellsville, passed away at 12:10 p.m., Saturday, June 18, 2016 at her home surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Romaker was born February 4, 1941, in New Florence, Missouri, a daughter of Paul Jenkins and Liona Mae Frye Dixon.
On June 29, 1957, in Bellflower, Missouri, she married Alvin Eugene Romaker. They were the parents of six children. He preceded her in death on October 8, 1992.
Dorothy moved to Wellsville in 1967 and to her current address over 40 years ago.
She had been employed at the Wellsville Super Save as a cashier for several years. Dorothy also had worked at Hays Orchard for 18 years until they cut the orchard down.
Dorothy was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bellflower.
She enjoyed working outdoors with her flowers and feeding and watching the birds.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Carla Fay Dodd and Terry Wishon, of Aurora, Carl Eugene Romaker, of Wellsville, Debra Sue "Debbie" Bryson, of Wellsville, Connie Lynn Winterbower and husband, Randy, of Mexico and David Alan Romaker and wife, Kristina, of Wellsville; grandchildren, Robert Cash, of the State of California, Brian Cash, Daniel Crenshaw and Benjamin Crenshaw, of Mexico, Cathy Bolin and husband, Chad, of Mt. Vernon, Jennifer Huffman and husband, Robert, of Bonner Springs, Kansas, Billy Dodd III, of Aurora, Travis Dodd, of Mt. Vernon, Luke Bryson and Jessica Schlanker, of Wellsville, Jock Bryson and wife, Danielle, of Wellsville, Jacob Winterbower and wife, Celinda, of Ames, Iowa, Kayla Schudel and husband, Ryan, of Mexico, Kara Winterbower, of Mexico, Jeanice Romaker and Kelly Williams, of Mexico, Joshua Romaker and Megan Pizzo, of Montgomery City and Bradley Romaker, serving in the U.S. Air Force, stationed in Okinawa, Japan; several great and great-great grandchildren; brothers and sister-in-law, Paul James and Evelyn Dixon, of Old Monroe and David Lee Dixon, of High Hill; sisters and brother-in-law, Darlene Mae Flinn, of Troy and Linda Sue and Art Lowes, of Lake City, Florida; in addition to several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Eugene Romaker; daughter, Carol Jean Crenshaw; great-granddaughter, Courtney Cash; son-in-law, Morris Bryson; parents, Paul and Liona Dixon and brothers, Robert William Dixon and Richard Vernon Dixon.
Funeral services were at 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 24, 2016 at the Myers Funeral Home in Wellsville. Rev. James Huckabee officiated.
Burial was in Bellflower Baptist Cemetery in Bellflower, Missouri. Serving as pallbearers were her grandsons, Jock Bryson, Luke Bryson, Billy Dodd III, Travis Dodd, Joshua Romaker and Jacob Winterbower. Honorary pallbearers were her grandsons, Brian Cash, Benjamin Crenshaw, Daniel Crenshaw and Bradley Romaker.
Visitation was held from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, June 23, 2016 at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions were suggested to Bellflower Baptist Cemetery or Bellflower First Baptist Church c/o Myers Funeral Home, 203 East Bates Street, Wellsville, MO 63384.
