Elmer Lee "Shorty" Stuart, Jr., 66, of Wellsville, passed away Monday, December 21, 2020 at his home, surrounded by his family.
Shorty was born September 26, 1954 in Mexico, Missouri, a son of Elmer Lee "Dutch" and Elizabeth May "Liz" (Huff) Stuart.
On May 27, 1972 at the Wellsville Baptist Church, he married Donna Kay Goddard, sharing over 48 years of marriage together.
Shorty lived all of his life in Wellsville. Shorty and Donna had lived at their farm in rural Wellsville for over 24 years, before recently moving into town.
He had worked at National Refractory in Mexico for over 30 years, retiring in 2002. Shorty then went to work for his Dad, Dutch and Uncle Gale Stuart at Stuart Trucking.
Shorty was a former member of Sportsman Lake and the Wellsville Jaycees.
In his younger years, Shorty played slow pitch softball. He loved being in the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and finding mushrooms. Shorty liked playing shuffleboard, pitching horseshoes and playing in pool tournaments. More than anything, he loved being with his kids and grandkids.
Shorty is survived by his wife, Donna Kay Stuart, of the home in Wellsville; three children, Stacey Ann Gunckel and husband, Richard, of St. Ann, Eric Lee Stuart, of Wellsville and Shane Michael Stuart and wife, Stephanie, of Middletown; grandchildren, Brent Damon-Lee Sheets and fiancee' Haley Calton, of Wellsville, Ashton Dwayne Sheets, of Macon, Skylar Adam Stuart, Erin Nicole Stuart, Makaila Renae Stuart, Jaiden Michael Stuart, Maison Alexander Stuart, Nathan Allan Meyer, all of Wellsville and Trinity Lorrabeth Stuart, of Middletown; great-granddaughter, Oaklie Arya Stuart, of Wellsville; sisters and brother-in-law, Charlotte Ann Senevey and Carla Jo and Mike Arens, of Wellsville; brother-in-law, Steve Maskey, of Wellsville; in addition to nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dutch and Liz Stuart and sisters, Diana Sue Stuart and Donna Lee Maskey.
Private Family Memorial Services were on Monday, December 28, 2020at the Myers Funeral Home in Wellsville. Mr. Donnie Vincent officiated.
Inurnment was in the Wellsville Cemetery.
