Homer Robert "JR" Haislip Jr., 70, of Wellsville, passed away at 1:30 p.m., Sunday, January 31, 2016 at his home.

Funeral services were at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 6, 2016 at the Myers Funeral Home in Wellsville. Rev. John Zellmer officiated.

Burial was in the Wellsville Cemetery in Wellsville, Missouri. Serving as pallbearers were Nicholas Daly, Jonathan Haislip, Robbie Haislip, Paul LaBanca, Bobby Mahurin and David Mayes. Honorary pallbearers were Sarah Daly, Alan Dunbar, George Haislip, Sam Haislip, Samantha Haislip, Emma Landers and JJ Landers. Full Military Honors were provided by Wellsville V.F.W. Post 3056. Missouri Military Funeral Honors Detail Team folded and presented the U.S. Flag to his daughter, Tammie.

Visitation was held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service, Saturday, at the funeral home.

Mr. Haislip was born October 9, 1945, in Mexico, Missouri, a son of Homer Robert Haislip Sr. and Thelma May Morris Haislip.

Homer served his country in the United States Army entering on November 23, 1965 and was honorably discharged on November 22, 1967.

On August 10, 1968, at the Wellsville Baptist Church, he married Judith Ann "Judy" Gryder. She preceded him in death on June 27, 2012.

He had lived in Wellsville since 2012. Prior to that, Homer and Judy lived in Elsberry from 2007-2012, St. Charles from 1985-2007 and Columbia, Missouri before that.

Homer had been employed for Metropolitan Sewer District in St. Louis, Missouri, as a waste water treatment plant operator from 1985 until he retired in 2007.

He enjoyed watching Nascar on television.

Homer is survived by his children, Tammie Lee Daly, of Elsberry, Robert Arthur "Robbie" Haislip, of Wright City and Amanda Mae "Mandy" Landers and husband, Joseph, of Elsberry; grandchildren, Samantha Lynn Haislip and Robert Arthur Haislip Jr., of Wright City, Sarah Thearesa Daly, of Winfield, Nicholas Shawn Daly, Jonathan Manuel Haislip, Emma Jean Landers and Joseph Scott Landers Jr., of Elsberry; brothers, George Lee Haislip and Shirley Scotto, of Iberia and Samuel Wayne Haislip and wife, Ione "Tessie", of Wellsville and sister, Diana Marie Dunbar and husband, Alan, of Wellsville.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Judith Ann "Judy" Haislip; daughter, Ann Renae Haislip and parents, Homer Robert and Thelma May Haislip Sr.
