James Edward "Jim" Bourne, Sr., 85, of Auburn, Kentucky, formerly of Wellsville and Middletown, passed away Thursday, September 24,2020 at his home in Kentucky.

Mr. Bourne was born April 27, 1935 in Olmstead, Kentucky, a son of Buford Frank and Lera Helen (Bagby) Bourne.

Jim served his country in the United States Army, entering on August 4, 1953 and being honorably discharged on May 19, 1958. He was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal, Army of Occupation Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the Mechanic Badge.

On February 8, 1961 in St. Louis, Missouri, he married Theresa Jesse Judd. They shared 38 years together, before she preceded him in death on January 27, 1999.

Jim had previously been employed for 10 years for a mail contractor hauling mail. Prior to that, he worked at Boise Cascade Can Company in St. Charles for over 22 years. Jim had also worked as an over the road truck driver for over 14 years, hauling transit and cargo.

He was a member of the American Legion in Kentucky. Jim was a former member of Dripping Springs Baptist Church in Olmstead, Kentucky and a current member of the Motorcycle Church in Springfield, Tennessee.

Jim loved motorcycle riding more than anything. He also enjoyed traveling. Jim loved spending time with his family.

Jim is survived by his four children, James Edward "Jim" (Kathy) Bourne Jr., of Hurst, Texas, Donna Hensiek (D.R.) and Linda Bourne, both of Arlington, Texas and Frank (Bette) Norman, of Columbia; 14 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren and brothers, Gary Bourne, of Idabel, Oklahoma, Glenn Bourne, of Auburn, Kentucky and Robert Bourne, of O'Fallon.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Theresa Jesse Bourne; brother, Rhea Bourne and sister, Judy Gasaway.

A Celebration of Life Service was at 12:00 noon, Wednesday, September 30, 2020at the Myers Funeral Home in Wellsville. Rev. Jonathan Bradley officiated.

Visitation was held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service, Wednesday, at the funeral home.

Inurnment was in Fairmount Cemetery in Middletown, Missouri. Jim was escorted to the cemetery by the Patriot Guard Riders.

Full Military Honors were provided by Wellsville VFW Post 3056. Missouri Military Funeral Honors folded and presented the United States Flag.
