James "Jim" Harrower, Jr., 81, of rural Middletown, passed away Thursday, April 8, 2021 at his home in Middletown.

Mr. Harrower was born June 20, 1939 in St. Louis, Missouri, a son of James Harrower, Sr. and Dorothy Louise (Pascal) Harrower.

He was a 1958 graduate of Hazelwood High School.

Jim served his country in the United States Army Reserves.

On May 15, 1965 in University City, Missouri, he married Charlene Margaret Hensiek. They shared over 55 years of marriage together and were the parents of two children. Jim and Charlene had lived in Hazelwood for over 40 years, before moving to Middletown, where they currently resided for several years.

Jim had been employed at the United States Postal Service as a letter carrier for over 33 years in Maryland Heights. When he moved to Middletown, he then started working as a stock clerk at Hoffman's IGA in Montgomery City and Wellsville Super Save. Jim and Charlene were the owners and operators of Mammys Kids Palace in Bellflower for 2 ½ years. They also worked for Family Pharmacy in Montgomery City for 10 years.

He was a member of the Band Boosters. Jim was actively involved with the sports and music programs in Wellsville and Vandalia, supporting all of his grandchildren.

Jim loved to fish, hunt and camp. He also enjoyed watching sports. More than anything, he loved being with his family.

Jim is survived by his wife, Charlene Margaret Harrower, of the home in Middletown; daughter and son-in-law, Christina Marrie "Tina" and Steven Wayne "Steve" Craven, of Middletown; son and daughter-in-law, James Albert and Karen Kaye Harrower, of Vandalia; four grandchildren and spouses, Ryan Wayne and Kristen Craven, of Lake St. Louis, Steven Michael & Janna Craven, of Montgomery City; Jinnifer Maye and Matt Hagan, of Mexico and Kayelee Marie and Chad Branstetter, of Perry; four great-grandchildren, Adrianna, Kolton and Tanner Craven, of Montgomery City and Stetson Hagan, of Mexico; brother-in-law, RW "Sonny" Hensiek, of Montgomery City; also considered family, Clifford and Katie Taylor and their children, Clifford and Natalie, of Wellsville and his beloved dog, PeeWee.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Dorothy Harrower, Sr and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ralph and Vernell Hensiek.

A Celebration of Life Service was at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 1, 2021 at the Myers Funeral Home in Wellsville. Rev. Ralph Williams officiated. Honorary pallbearers were Chad Branstetter, Brian Cahall, Adrianna Craven, Kolton Craven, Tanner Craven, Matt Hagan, Stetson Hagan, Clifford D. Taylor and Clifford E. Taylor.

Visitation was held from 12:00 noon until the time of service, Saturday, at the funeral home.

Full Military Honors were provided by Wellsville V.F.W. Post 3056. Missouri Military Funeral Honors folded and presented the United States Flag to his wife, Charlene. Patriot Guard Riders served as Honor Guard.
