John Irving Hagemier, 82, of Middletown, passed away at 9:59 a.m., Friday, July 22, 2016 at his home.

Mr. Hagemier was born September 30, 1933, in Mount Vernon, Missouri, a son of Willie Wesley and Lydia Marie (Wuellner) Hagemier.

He was a 1952 graduate of Webster Groves High School.

John served his country in the United States Navy, entering on November 15, 1955 and being honorably discharged on August 16, 1957. He then transferred to the Reserves until November 14, 1961.

On November 2, 1957, in Affton, Missouri, he married Anna Bernice Querling. They shared almost 50 years together before she preceded him in death on September 11, 2007.

John had lived in Middletown since January of 1965. From 1963-1965, he lived in Montgomery City. Prior to that, he had lived in Sunset Hills.

He had been employed at Purina Mills in Montgomery City as a bulk loader from 1963 until he retired in 1996.

John had been a member of the Middletown Baptist Church since 1965, where he remained very active. He was a Sunday School clerk for several years.

He was an avid hunter and would hunt almost anything but especially loved hunting deer, turkey and geese. John enjoyed gardening. He also liked woodworking and cabinetry, in which he donated many of his pieces to charity auctions.

John is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Frederick William "Fred" and Laura Hagemier, of Middletown; daughter, Joan Elizabeth Hagemier, of Clinton; grandsons, Jarrett William Hagemier and wife, Andee, of Curryville and Tyler Dean Hagemier, of Middletown and great-grandsons, Gage William and Gil Nathaniel Hagemier, of Curryville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Anna Bernice Hagemier and brothers, Charles Herman Hagemier and Leslie Harlan Hagemier.

Funeral services were at 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 25, 2016 at the Middletown Baptist Church. Rev. Dick Hinson and Rev. John Foster officiated. Special music was provided by his grandsons, Jarrett and Tyler Hagemier and friend, John Foster.

Burial was in Fairmount Cemetery in Middletown, Missouri. Serving as pallbearers were Rodney Allison, Tom Bishop, Jarrett Hagemier, Tyler Hagemier, Clifford Hobbs and Paul West. Honorary pallbearers were Les Batton and Terry Struse.

Full Military Honors were provided by the Wellsville V.F.W. Post 3056. Missouri Military Funeral Honors Detail Team (Navy) folded and presented the United States Flag to his daughter, Joan.

Visitation was held from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m., Sunday, July 24, 2016 at the Middletown Baptist Church.

Services were under the direction of the Myers Funeral Home in Middletown.
