Joseph "Joe" Edward Foster, 78, of Wellsville, passed away on Thursday, February 20, 2025, at St. Louis University Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, February 27, 2025, at Myers Funeral Home in Wellsville. Reverend Kevin Wilkerson will be officiating the service with burial following at the Wellsville Cemetery.

Visitation will be on Thursday, February 27, 2025, from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Joe was born on July 20, 1946 in Mexico, the son of Estell and Frances (Nation) Foster.  On February 24, 1968 he married Barbara Canterbury in Montgomery City, who survives.

Joe was a veteran and served in the U.S. Navy and was of the Catholic faith. He worked as a clerk for the Monsanto company for many years. After he retired, Joe took a position in the deli at Walmart and really enjoyed meeting new people.

Joe was the kind of guy who loved to bowl and was always up for a friendly competition. He also had a real talent for keeping his yard looking amazing, spending hours making sure it was just right, with flowers and everything in place. On any given day, you could find him sitting on the front porch, just enjoying the simple things—nature, a good breeze, and the peace around him.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara; one daughter, Melanie Gipson of Wellsville; one sister, Rose Scheidle (Ed) of Imperial, Missouri; one sister-in-law, Dixie Foster, of St. Ann; five grandchildren, Ashley Owen (Dustin) of Middletown, Autumn Gipson of St. Charles; K.J. Gipson of Middletown, Robert Bextermueller and Jackson Bextermueller of Wentzville; three great grandchildren, Elijah Owen, Lindell Owen, and Victoria Jones; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Joe was preceded in death by one daughter, Melissa Jo Bextermueller; one brother, Charles Foster; and one sister Mary Giger.
