Kathryn Eloise Johnson Henderson, 94, of the Columbia/Hallsville area, passed away peacefully at 4:17 p.m., Saturday, December 9, 2017 at Pin Oaks Living Center in Mexico, Missouri.

Mrs. Henderson was born September 19, 1923 in Columbia, Missouri, the second of eleven children, a daughter of James Lewis and Minnie Gertrude (Ravenscraft) Johnson.

She was a graduate of Hickman High School in Columbia, Missouri.

Kathryn had lived most of her life in the Columbia/Hallsville area, before moving to Laddonia in 2012 to be close to her family.

She was a member of Church of Christ in Hallsville, where she was also a Sunday School Teacher.

Kathryn had retired in 1988 from State Farm Insurance in Columbia after 31 years, working as an underwriter's assistant.

After she retired, she became active with the "Bell Choir" with the Senior Center in Columbia. Kathryn also worked in numerous grocery stores, passing out samples. She was an Avon lady for many years.

Kathryn was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan and enjoyed listening to Jack Buck announce Cardinals baseball on the radio as well as later watching the Cardinals. She loved making candy, especially divinity and peanut brittle and enjoyed bargain shopping.

Kathryn was a much loved mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.

Kathryn is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Audrey and Kenny Schafer, of Martinsburg; son, John Lee Henderson III; six grandchildren and spouses, Kristan and David Kleinsorge, of Middletown, Vicki and Mike Duenke, of Laddonia, Maria Schafer, of Fairfax, Virginia, Samantha and A.J. Jensen, of Laddonia, John Arthur Henderson and Gary Henderson; thirteen great-grandchildren, Alexander, Abbigail, Libby and Leah Kleinsorge, Travis, Morgan, Justin and Ella Duenke and Preston, Griffin, Sadie, Sebastian and Graham Yesquen; two brothers, James Lewis Johnson Jr., of Arizona and Jerry Johnson, of Columbia; sister, Martha Shern, of Olatha, Kansas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Arthur Henderson and seven siblings, Elizabeth Connor, Dorothy Sue Walker, Nedra Schmidt, Carol Huston, Hilary Johnson, Glenn Johnson and Patty Peacher Thoelke.

In lieu of flowers, please read a book to a child.

A Celebration of Life Service was held from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m., with a Prayer offered at 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at the Martinsburg American Legion Hall.

Services were under the direction of Myers Funeral Home in Wellsville.
