Larry G. Taylor, 78, of Wellsville, passed away suddenly on Saturday February 5, 2022, at Boone Hospital in Columbia.

Larry was born and raised in Wellsville, was a lifelong resident of the area, and along with his wife Martha, raised their three children there.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Nellie Wilcox Stone and Ludon M. 'Duke" Taylor, his brother Charles Taylor, and son-in-law Mike Clift, along with several aunts and uncles.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Martha, of the home, children Colette Clift and partner Jamey Swezey of Arcadia Kansas, Dr. Nan Keilholz and husband Lenny of Chamois Missouri, and Tim Taylor and wife Monica of Wellsville Missouri. Grandchildren Joshua Purcell and wife Lauren of Bolivar Missouri, Elizabeth Slavens and partner Josh Brink of Mulberry Kansas, Brad Slavens and partner Kaylee Springer of Curtis Nebraska, Rachel Keilholz and Jessica Keilholz of Chamois Missouri, and Annelissa Taylor of Kansas City Missouri. Great grandchildren Kaedan and Keegan Purcell of Imperial Beach California, Alexandria and Aeryn Brink of Mulberry Kansas, and he was excited for the arrival of his 5th great grandchild Aohdan Brink. Also a nephew Jay Taylor of Bowling Green Mo., and a niece Cynthia McKinnon of Pleasant Hill IL. He leaves behind many friends from near and far.

Larry was active in his lifelong community of Wellsville and attended Mineola Baptist Church where he leaves many friends. He enjoyed caring for his cattle, hunting, and his greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren, especially if it involved a fishing pole.

Larry was a cattleman, retired from a career at Wellsville Firebrick, and spent his younger years as a carpenter for Charles Swarthout where he learned the skills he used to build the family home. He was always ready to lend a hand to someone in need or bring some tools and fix anything that needed fixing.

He wished for no services. There will be small private gatherings of friends and family as per his wishes. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at stjude.org

He will be greatly missed by many and life on the Hardscramble acres definitely won't be the same without him.
