Margaret Joan Gottschalk, 82, of St. Peters, formerly of Wentzville, Missouri; passed away at 11:45 p.m., Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at Missouri Baptist Medical Center in St. Louis.

Margaret was born February 20, 1935 in Sherburn, Minnesota, a daughter of Raymond Henry and Margaret Mabel (McGuiness) Koeder.

On February 21, 1955, in Nevada, Iowa, she married Donald Eugene Gottschalk, sharing over 62 years of marriage together. They lived over 40 years in the Wentzville area before moving to St. Peters. Prior to that, they had lived in St. Louis County.

Margaret was a 1953 high school graduate of Nevada High School. She continued her education at an Iowa teacher's college.

She had worked as a 2nd and 3rd grade Elementary Teacher at St. Theodore's in Flint Hill for over 7 years. Margaret had also been employed at Famous Barr and Wausau Insurance in St. Louis, where she retired. She was also a homemaker and caretaker, taking care of several members of her family.

Margaret enjoyed gardening, antiquing and history. She liked watching college football, with Iowa Hawkeyes and Notre Dame Fighting Irish being her favorite teams. She was an avid HGTV follower as she and her husband Don had enjoyed the challenges of home improvement throughout their marriage. Margaret loved traveling with Don, exploring almost every state.

Margaret is survived by her husband, Donald Eugene Gottschalk, of Breeze Park Care Center in Weldon Springs; son and daughter-in-law, John Karl and Rita Gottschalk, of Wright City, Missouri; daughters and sons-in-law, Cheryl Ann and Robert Nolda, of Manakin-Sabot, Virginia and Donna Marie and Michael Howarth, of St. Peters, Missouri; three grandchildren, Kristen Gottschalk Townes and husband, Jonathan, of Manakin-Sabot, Virginia and Warren James Howarth II and Devin Michael Howarth, both of St. Peters, Missouri; great-grandchildren, Owen Matthew Townes and Maddox Parker Townes, of Manakin-Sabot, Virginia; brother and sister-in-law, Raymond William and Georgiann Koeder, of Nevada, Iowa; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Paula and Richard "Bud" Woodson, of Waldport, Oregon; niece, Patricia Whetstone, of Altoona, Iowa; three nephews, John Weitkamp, of Martinsburg, Missouri, Mike Weitkamp, of Troy, Missouri and Dan Weitkamp, of Jefferson City, Missouri; and extended family, Debra Anne Hummel and husband, Dennis, of O'Fallon, Missouri.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Kathryn Ann Weitkamp.

A Mass of Christian Burial was at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at All Saints Catholic Church in St. Peters, Missouri. Father Bob Suit officiated. Serving as organist was Todd Mesler. Soloist was Emily Banks.

Visitation was held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service, Tuesday, at the church.

Services were under the direction of the Myers Funeral Home in Wellsville.

Interment was in Fairmount Cemetery in Middletown, Missouri at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 3, 2017. Deacon Ron Deimeke officiated. Serving as pallbearers were Warren Howarth, Jonathan Townes, Dan Weitkamp, John Weitkamp, Mike Weitkamp and Jerry Whetstone.
