Martha "Red" Evelyn (Young) Joyce, 75, of Montgomery City, passed away at 5:22 p.m. Sunday May 7, 2023, in Rogersville, Missouri.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday May 13, 2023, at Myers Funeral Home in Wellsville. Burial will follow in Wellsville Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday May 12, 2023, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Red was born July 3, 1947, in Wellsville. She was the daughter of James and Wilma Claudine (Vaughn) Burch. She married Buster Pherigo who survives. She also was married to Edward Young who preceded her in death. She later married James Joyce who also preceded her in death.

She retired from the Labor Training Center in High Hill. She enjoyed a tidy home and clean yard. When she wasn't cleaning inside she was working outside in the garden. She never saw a flower garden she didn't enjoy. She loved deeply and loved her kids and grandkids passionately.

In addition to her boyfriend Buster Pherigo, survivors include one daughter, Nina Sue Hurt (Junior), of Warsaw, Indiana; four grandchildren, Shannon Lee Kent, of Montgomery City, Shawna Lynn McDermitt (Travis), of Rogersville, Missouri, Justin Hurt (Jamie), of Silver Lake, Indiana, and Jake Hurt, of Warsaw, Indiana; and 11 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son, Everett Lee Young; one daughter, Betty Jean Kent; two brothers, Kenneth D. Burch, and William "Bill" Lee Burch; and one sister, Nadine Kitson.
