Mary Ruth Arens, 86, of Martinsburg, passed away at 1:10 a.m. Friday July 26, 2024, at ANEW Healthcare in Wellsville.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 29, 2024, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Martinsburg with Father Derek Hooper officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Martinsburg.
Visitation will be Monday from 9 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the church. Myers Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Mary was born August 30, 1937, in Frankford, Missouri. She was the daughter of Louis Marion and Zella Ruth (Kizer) Ocheltree. On June 14, 1958, in Louisiana, Missouri, she married Lester Leon Arens who preceded her in death on January 22, 2017.
Mary graduated from Louisiana High School in 1955. During high school she played basketball and also was a member of the marching band. After graduation she attended Quincy College for 2 years.
Mary was a farm wife and mother. She also was the secretary for Martinsburg Mutual Insurance Company for many years.
Among the many ways she was involved in raising her family she coached sports teams the kids participated in. She also was a wonderful grandma. Her interests included gardening, reading, Cardinal's Baseball, going to casinos, playing cards, attending the monthly dances with her husband, enjoying her cats, and most recently she became passionate about cooking, preparing amazing meals.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Survivors include one son, Ronnie Arens, of Martinsburg; three daughters, Linda Sue Presley (Greg), of Moscow Mills, Lisa Marie Eisenbath (Gary), of Cottleville, and Libby Ann Pfaff (Steve) of Ballwin; 10 grandchildren, Michelle Presley (Jimmy Brimmer), of Moscow Mills, Danielle Hollrah (Jonathan), of O'Fallon, Jeff Arens (Christy), Laddonia, Lauren Cooper (Seth), Parkville, Brian Arens (Ashley), of Martinsburg, Melissa Foutz (Lewis), of Foristell, Janelle Serrano (Eddie), of Foristell, Hunter Eisenbath (fiancee' Lexie Jackson), of Foristell, Parker Pfaff, of St. Charles, and Austin Pfaff, of Chesterfield; 15 great grandchildren, Madison, Alyssa, and Colton Brimmer, Victoria and Alexander Hollrah, Kaytlynn and Ryan Arens, Braum, Logan, and Graham Cooper, Addison, Josie, and Rylee Arens, and Easton and Sommer Serrano.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
