Maxine Effie Bolin, 81, of rural Middletown, passed away at 11:52 p.m., Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at her daughter's home in Troy, Missouri.
Mrs. Bolin was born January 18, 1936, in Salem, Missouri, a daughter of Ira Joseph Axley and Leona Pearl (Laird) Johns. Her grandparents, George Elizah and Jane Elizabeth (Skiles) Laird raised Maxine.
Maxine had married Bonnie D. Bolin and they were the parents of 4 children.
She had lived in Middletown since 1992. Prior to that, Maxine lived in St. Louis from 1963 – 1992.
Maxine had been employed at International Lighting Manufacturing from 1968 – 1994.
She loved gardening and would spend hours outdoors doing her yardwork. Maxine enjoyed reading and antiquing. She was a very giving person and liked helping and loving those with less opportunity and less advantage. More than anything, Maxine loved spending time with her family.
Maxine is survived by her three children, Samuel Dean Bolin and wife, Charlotte, of Jonesburg, Kathryn Elizabeth O'Neill, of Troy and William James "Bill" Bolin and wife, Kimberly, of St. Louis; eight grandchildren and their spouses, Thomas Joseph and Jane Preuss, of Leawood, Kansas, Jacqueline and Joe Mischlispy, of Warrenton, Lauren (Bolin) and Sean Begley, of St. Louis, Jessica (Bolin) Patton, of Jonesburg, Ashleigh (O'Neill) and Jason Perry, of Wentzville, Kaitlyn O'Neill, of Troy, Lindsay Bolin, of St. Louis and Brian Bolin, of St. Louis; step-grandchildren, Paul and Leslie King, of Montgomery City and Joey King, of the State of Washington; thirteen great-grandchildren, Taylor Preuss, Peyton Preuss, Maxine Perry, Gabriel Pense, Sierrah Goddard, Scott Goddard, Josephine Mischlispy, Jackson Mischlispy, Burke King, Marcella King, Kelsey King, Andrew King and Jaden King and brothers and sisters, Betty Roberts, Beverly Shadwick, Sandra LaPointe, Sonny Johns, Joyce Johns, Keith Johns, Gary Johns and Jimmy Johns.
She was preceded in death by her son, Ronald Gene Bolin; parents, Ira Axley and Leona Pearl Johns; grandparents, George and Jane Laird; brothers and sisters, Judy Johns, Billy Wayne Johns, Ricky Johns and Vernon Johns and aunts and uncles.
Visitation was held from 12:00 noon – 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 11, 2017 at the Myers Funeral Home in Middletown.
Funeral services were at 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 11, 2017 at the funeral home. Rev. John Foster officiated. Serving as soloist was her grandchildren, Brian Bolin and Ashleigh Perry. Organist was Mary Thomas.
Burial was in West Prairie Cemetery in rural Middletown, Missouri. Serving as pallbearers were T J Preuss, Brian Bolin, Jason Perry, Joe Mischlispy, Sean Begley and Jamie Dowling. Honorary pallbearers were Nick Dowling, Robert Dowling and Justin Dowling.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions were suggested to National Council of Aging c/o Myers Funeral Home, 203 East Bates Street, Wellsville, MO 63384.
