Neil and Lois Ahrens, of Martinsburg, both passed away recently. Neil passed away August 2, 2025, and Lois August 4, 2025.

Neil was born June 15, 1952, in Mexico. He was the son of Joseph and E. Ione (Whitehead) Ahrens.

Lois was born July 18, 1955, in Mexico. She was the daughter of Floyd and C. Bernice (Nichols) Banks.

Neil and Lois were married on November 3, 1973, in Martinsburg. They celebrated 50 years of marriage in 2023.

Neil attended St. Joseph School and Community R6 High School. He was a farmer and also enjoyed hunting and shooting sports. He was an avid collector of many things and he was very supportive of his community and community events. He was always ready to lend a hand to anyone that needed help.

Lois attended Wellsville School and then Columbia College where she received a Bachelor's degree in Business. She retired from MBS Textbook Exchange, Inc., in Columbia. She was known for her baked goods and she enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening. She also loved collecting Fenton Glass.

Neil and Lois are survived by two sons, Keith Ahrens (Christy), of Ft. Bragg, NC, and LTC Michael Ahrens (Visa), of Frederick, MD; one daughter, Rebecca Blair (Shawn), of Mexico; seven grandchildren, Stephanie Ahrens, Samantha (Ben) Law, Joseph (Trish) Ahrens, Lani and Evan Blair, and Sebastian and Dylan Ahrens; and one great grandchild expected soon.

Neil is survived by one brother, John Ahrens (Sandra), of Branson; and two sisters, Sandy Blaue, of Laddonia, and Cheryl Snyder (Curtis), of Martinsburg.

Lois is survived by one brother, Tom Banks (Carolyn), of Centralia; and two sisters, Janice Ownby (Steve), of Brentwood, and Mary Ketchum (Ray), of Radcliff, KY.

Neil was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Ahrens.

Lois was preceded in death by two sisters, Linda Stevenson, and Doris Cochran.

Neil and Lois have always made it known to family and friends that they did not want funeral or memorial services and the family is honoring that request.
