Norbert Anthony "Norb" Arens, 92, of Martinsburg, passed away Monday, November 30, 2020 at Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans' Hospital in Columbia, Missouri.

Mr. Arens was born July 24, 1928 in Martinsburg, Missouri, a son of Joseph Casper and Elizabeth Louise (Ploss) Arens.

Norb served his country in the United States Army, entering on December 1, 1950 and being honorably discharged on December 1, 1952, having served during the Korean War.

On November 6, 1954 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in East Saint Louis, Missouri, he married Doris Marie Sanford, sharing almost 50 years together. She preceded him in death on August 8, 2004.

Norb was a mechanic all of his life. Norb and his brother, Fred, started Arens Brothers Garage in 1957, doing automotive repair as well as hauling lime. In 1965, they bought the present site and started Arens Dodge, selling Dodge/Chrysler/Plymouth products, until 1982. In the early 1980's they stopped the dealership and focused on automotive car and truck repair. Norb has been the owner/operator of Arens Automotive in Wellsville, since 1957, until retiring in 2013. Norb was a mechanic by trade but very gifted and skilled and could fix or repair anything you put in front of him, from clocks and washers and dryersto little or big car repair.

He lived all of his life in Martinsburg and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Martinsburg and the Knights of Columbus. Norb was also a member of Martinsburg American Legion Post 552.

Norb and his wife, Doris, loved boating on the Gasconade River with their family and friends. He also enjoyed fishing, quail hunting and cutting wood. Norb was an excellent cook with his specialties being homemade cinnamon rolls and bread. In his past time, he enjoyed a cold beer or occasional whiskey.

Norb is survived by his four sons, Joseph Arens and wife, Priscilla, of Springfield, Thomas Arens, Stephen Arens and Patrick Arens and wife, Pam, of Martinsburg; eleven grandchildren, Matthew (Sheila) Arens, of Springfield, Megan (Andrew) Goggin, of Kansas City, Nicholas (Taryn) Arens, of Springfield, Christopher (Chelsey) Arens, of Marthasville, Danielle Arens and John "Willy" Hilderman, of Mexico, Tiffany (Justin) Rice, of Liberty, Brandon Arens, Christina Arens, Anthony Arens and Rachel Arens, all of Martinsburg and Alisha Arens, of Thompson; seven great-grandchildren, Asher Goggin, Atlas Arens, Landon, Logan and Laith Hilderman and Rylan and Hunter Arens and brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Bonnie Arens, of Quincy, Illinois; sister-in-law, Bernie Sanford, of Millstadt, Illinois; in addition to nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Doris Marie Arens; brother, Frederick Joseph "Fred" Arens and sister, Mary Dryden.

Full Military Honors wereprovided by Martinsburg American Legion Post 552.

Services were under the direction of the Myers Funeral Home in Wellsville.
