Onie Maybelle (Jett) Sailor, 84, of Wellsville, passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia.
Onie was born to Raymond Jett & Edith Leota (Hinton) Jett on April 24, 1938 in Perry, Missouri. She graduated high school in Colorado Springs in 1956. Mrs. Sailor was married to Caleb Willard Sailor, Jr. on October 13, 1961 and born to this marriage were two daughters, Alta Renee Sailor and Edith Marie Sailor as well as one son, Caleb Willard Sailor III (whose life was taken in January of 1991).
Mrs. Sailor worked at the shoe factory in Mexico, then the "Shirt Factory" in Wellsville. She also worked at Wellsville Gamma Road Lodge for eight years when it opened then worked 13 years at the Missouri Veteran's Home in Mexico. After retiring to care for her husband following his first stroke, she worked seven years at Audrain Medical Center. Onie then retired from Audrain Medical Center to spend more time at her husband's side before his death in January of 2008.
Mrs. Sailor was a former active member of the First Baptist Church in Wellsville and served in several capacities at the church. She recently was attending Hopewell Baptist Church in Wellsville.
Mrs. Sailor loved her family, church family and friends. She especially enjoyed visits from her children and her three grandchildren. Onie loved to travel, especially road trips to visit and photograph new places, as well as visiting with family, including her three great-grandchildren.
Survivors include two daughters, Alta Renee Sailor of Waynesville and Edith Marie Sailor of Ballwin; three grandchildren, Coetta Fredrickson of Ballwin, Joshua (Janelle) Fredrickson of Ballwin and Jade Lee Sailor of Waynesville; three great-grandchildren, Caleb Michael Holmes and Silas Grey Holmes of Ballwin and Laura Fredrickson of Ballwin; one brother, Raymond Oliver Jett of Houston, TX; one sister, Kathelene (Jett) Blackburn and husband Denis of Lawton, OK, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Sailor was preceded in death by one stillborn daughter; her parents, Raymond and Edith Jett; her husband, Willard Sailor; one son, Caleb Sailor; one older sister, June (Jett) Nees; one younger brother, William Lee Jett and one uncle, Walter Hinten.
The family requests memorial donations be made to the American Heart Association. Memorials may be sent in care of Myers Funeral Home, 203 E. Bates St., Wellsville, MO 63384.
