Thomas Patrick George Pursifull, 76, of Titusville, Florida, formerly of Martinsburg, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, June 11, 2017, at Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne, Florida.
Mr. Pursifull was born August 30, 1940, in Thompson, Missouri, a son of Clarence William and Julia Barat (Sampson) Pursifull.
He was a graduate of Community R-VI High School and continued his education at Fontbonne University in Saint Louis, obtaining his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration.
Thomas served his country in the United States Coast Guard, entering July 21, 1959 and being honorably discharged on July 20, 1963, receiving a Coast Guard Good Conduct Medal. He re-entered on October 14, 1963 and was again honorably discharged on October 13, 1967, being the recipient of the Coast Guard Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, and the Honorable Discharge Button.
Thomas worked for McDonnell Douglas in St. Louis from 1967-1996 in aircraft acceptance.
On September 29, 1973, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Florissant, Missouri, he married Jane Frances Currie. They lived in St. Peters, Missouri, before moving full-time to Titusville, Florida, in 2003. From 1996-2003, Thomas and Jane were snowbirds, living in Florida for the winters.
Thomas was a member of St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church in Titusville.
Thomas was an avid golfer, skilled at home repairs, and an accomplished cook. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, early morning sunrises, walks on the beach, and trips with his wife, Jane, to their favorite places: Sanibel Island, Florida, Mackinac Island, Michigan, and Savannah, Georgia, and special time with his devoted pet, Callie Lilly.
Thomas is survived by his wife, Jane Frances Pursifull, of Titusville, Florida; brothers and sisters and their spouses, Francis Joseph "Joe" and Joann Pursifull of Louisiana, Vincent Paul and Carol Pursifull of Martinsburg, James Anthony and Gillian Pursifull, of Columbia, Maureen Ann and Andy Ehret, of Martinsburg, Raymond Joseph and Bonnie Pursifull, of Mexico, Mary Therese Appling, of St. Charles and George Edward Pursifull, of Hazelwood; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Pursifull, of Ashley, and Betty Pursifull, of Martinsburg; and brother-in-law, Reid B. Currie of Ballwin, Missouri. Thomas was also blessed to have many devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, and great-great nieces and nephews.
Thomas was preceded in death by his parents; brothers William Clarence "Bill" Pursifull and John James Pursifull and sisters Julia Jane Pursifull and Rosemary Ann Byland.
A Mass of Christian Burial was at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 17, 2017 at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Martinsburg, Missouri. Father Joseph Abah and Deacon Joseph Allen officiated. Serving as organist was Ruth Wilson. Cantor was Brenda Hale.
Burial was in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, south of Martinsburg. Serving as pallbearers were John Allen, Paul Appling, Mark Pursifull, Pat Pursifull, Roger Pursifull, and Patrick Shaughnessy. Honorary pallbearers were Christopher Cook and Robert Menendez.
Full Military Honors were provided by American Legion Post 552. Missouri Military Funeral Honors Team Coast Guard folded and presented the United States Flag to his wife, Jane.
Visitation was from 5:00-7:00 p.m., with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m., Friday June 16, 2017 at the church.
Services were under the direction of the Myers Funeral Home in Wellsville.
Memorial contributions were suggested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or SPCA of Brevard County, c/o Myers Funeral Home, 203 East Bates Street, Wellsville, MO 63384.
