Vernon Leroy Eikel, 80, of Martinsburg, passed away at 8:39 a.m., Sunday, May 4, 2025, at his home.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 9, 2025 at St. Martins Catholic Cemetery in Starkenburg, Missouri with Deacon Gerald Korman officiating.

Visitation will be on Thursday, May 8, 2025, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Myers Funeral Home in Wellsville, Missouri

Vernon was born October 11, 1944 in Hermann, Missouri. He was the son of Wilfred and Ruby (Maddox) Eikel. On October 23, 1965 he married the love of his life, Marilyn Ertman in Warrenton, Missouri.

Vernon was a veteran, having served in the Unites States Army from November 8, 1965 to August 11, 1971. After his military service, he worked in maintenance for National Refractories until its closure.

For 50 years, Vernon was a proud member of the American Legion Post in Martinsburg. He loved being outdoors—hunting, fishing, and soaking in nature. He also enjoyed making his own wine and was a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals fan.

Vernon and his wife, Marilyn, raised six children together. Family meant everything to him, and he always made time for the people and things he cared about.

In addition to his wife Marilyn, survivors include three sons, Dan Eikel (Eva) of Martinsburg, Missouri, Mark Korman (Samira) of Mexico, Missouri, and Mike Korman (Kim) of Stephens, Missouri; three daughters, Lynn Risenhoover (Steve) of Martinsburg, Missouri, Dana Harris of Columbia, Missouri, and Patty Davidson of Las Vegas, Nevada; thirteen grandchildren, Damon Blakeman (Katie), Jennifer Garrett, Britney Garrett, Hailey Korman, Kelsey Korman, Nicole Harris, (Ryan Gavin), Chad Harris (Kiarah), Tyler Korman, Roman Korman, Nathan Swaim, Paige Risenhoover, Jenna Eikel, and Clayton Eikel; numerous great grandchildren; and two sisters, Shelly VanBooven (Danny) of Portland, Missouri, and Charlene Watson of Hermann Missouri.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, Lloyd Eikel, Harvey Eikel, Stanley Eikel and Rod Eikel; and one sister Alice Little.
