Wesley Sheridan "Pete" DeTienne, Jr., 86, of Martinsburg, passed away Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at Gamma Road Lodge in Wellsville.
Mr. DeTienne was born May 4, 1932 in Vandalia, Missouri, a son of Wesley Sheridan DeTienne Sr. and Lily Grace McCurdy DeTienne.
Pete had lived in Martinsburg since 2006. Prior to that, he lived in Wellsville.
He had been employed at C & E Refractories in Vandalia for over 21 years, where he set brick. Pete also farmed.
Pete was a member of Masonic Lodge #246 in Montgomery City, receiving his 50 year pin in 2017 as well as a member of Masonic Lodge #491 in Vandalia. He was a former member of Odd Fellows in Vandalia and Tri County Saddle Club.
He enjoyed woodworking, welding, and gardening. Pete liked deer hunting and trout fishing.
Pete is survived by his four children and spouses, Randall Albert "Randy" and Melinda DeTienne, of Mexico, Richard Lee "Pud" and Christine DeTienne, of Wellsville, Sharon Faye and David Welschmeyer, of Martinsburg and Lori Elizabeth DeTienne, of Wellsville; grandchildren, Johnna Ann Logue, of Mexico, Genevieve Alyssa "Genny" Welschmeyer, of Martinsburg, Sarah Catherine Welschmeyer, of Jefferson City, Mark Jordan and Amanda Welschmeyer, of Martinsburg, Marcus Arthur and Saara Emilia DeTienne, of Helsinki, Finland, Fancy Renae Gaithright, of Fulton, Joshua Lee DeTienne and Devon Marie DeTienne, of Wellsville and Ryan James Niekamp and Elizabeth Kirsten Niekamp, of Columbia; great-grandchildren, Garrett Chevelle and Charlene Geindree Welschmeyer, of Martinsburg, Charlie Maydell DeTienne and Richard Wesley Axel Gaithright, of Fulton, Adalynn London Niekamp, of Raleigh, North Carolina, Kaydence Amaya Niekamp, of Columbia and Nora Elise DeTienne, of Helsinki, Finland; sister, Martha Grace McDaniel, of Mexico and brother Virgil Lee DeTienne, of Las Vegas, Nevada.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Joann Marie DeTienne; son, Wesley Arthur DeTienne; grandson, Garrett Mathew Welschmeyer; brothers, John Robert "J.R." DeTienne and Ray Daniel DeTienne and infant brother, Roy Samuel DeTienne.
Visitation was held from 5:00-7:00 p.m., with a Masonic Service at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, December 20, 2018 at the Myers Funeral Home in Wellsville.
Funeral services were at 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 21, 2018 at the funeral home. Rev. Justin Keith officiated.
Burial was in the Wellsville Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Curtis DeTienne, Dean DeTienne, Josh DeTienne, Tracy DeTienne, Trey DeTienne, Ryan Niekamp, Charles "Buster" Spires and Mark Welschmeyer.
Memorial contributions were suggested to Masonic Lodge #491 to be used for kids donations c/o Myers Funeral Home, 203 East Bates, Wellsville, MO 63384.
