William Robert "Bill" Penrod, 83, of Wellsville, passed away peacefully in his sleep at 3:20 a.m., Thursday, August 3, 2017 at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, Missouri.

Bill was born December 24, 1933 in Hinton, Missouri, a son of George William and Martha Helen (Winfrey) Penrod.

He had lived most all of his life in Wellsville, living at his family home from 1947 until he moved to WellsVilla in 2014.

Bill was a former laborer at Ardco Finishing Company in Wellsville where they dyed and processed material. He had also owned and operated a tree trimming business. In earlier years, Bill had worked at Buck's Gulf Station in Wellsville.

Bill was an avid reader and gardener. He enjoyed playing his guitar, hunting and fishing and loved all animals, especially his many dogs as well as horses. Bill liked looking for treasures with his metal detector. He loved being around his family.

Bill is survived by his brothers and sister-in-law, Larry Gene and Marilyn Penrod of Wellsville and Donald Ray Penrod, of Davis, Oklahoma; sister and brother-in-law, Ella Jane and Harry Johnson, of Wellsville; 13 nieces and nephews; numerous great nieces and nephews and special friend, Donna Sandland, of Wellsville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Helen Penrod; brother, Jimmie Penrod; niece, Mary Louise Penrod and nephew, Jimmie Penrod.

Mr. Penrod was cremated and at his request, there were no services.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Myers Funeral Home in Wellsville.
