Ada Ella Wylie, 94, of Webster Groves, passed away Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at St. Andrews at Francis Place in Eureka, Missouri.
Mrs. Wylie was born June 17, 1926 in Wellsville, Missouri, a daughter of Carl Fred and Martha Louise (Kleinsorge) Gastler.
On October 12, 1946 at the Wellsville Christian Church, she married Charles Dewitt Wylie. They shared over 73 wonderful years of marriage together, before he preceded her in death on November 10, 2019.
Ada and Charles had lived in Webster Groves since 1965. In earlier years, they had lived in Moline, Illinois and Woodriver, Illinois.
Ada starting working as a seamstress at Bud Humphries Draperies in Olivett in 1965, retiring when she was 65.
She was a member of The Lutheran Church of Webster Gardens.
Ada was an avid golfer with her husband Charles. She received a hole in one on the 14th hole of Tower Tee on July 6, 1988. They shared many memories and lifelong friendships with some of their regular golfing buddies, Bernice and Gilbert and Helen and Chief. Ada and Charles also loved to go square dancing, participating in clubs as well as exhibitions. Ada was an excellent gardener. More than anything, she loved her family, especially her grandchildren.
Ada is survived by her three daughters and sons-in-law, Winifred and Peter Laucis, of Sunset Hills, Pamela and Jon Petri, of High Ridge and Kimberly and Raymond Stockglausner, of Fenton; five grandchildren and spouses, Zachary (Lindsay) Laucis, of Chicago, Illinois, Nicholas (Anna) Laucis, of Detroit, Michigan, Maxwell (Ciara) Petri, of St. Peters, Victoria (Ben) Haltenhof, of Creve Coeur and Alexis Stockglausner, of St. Louis; great-granddaughter, Octavia Marie Wylie Laucis, of Chicago, Illinois; brother, Clarence “Clay” Gastler, of Wellsville; sister, Norma Weisenborn, of Concordia; sisters-in-law, Ida Gastler, of Wellsville and Jane Gastler Davis, of St. Clair; in addition to nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles Dewitt Wylie; brothers, Charles Gastler and Melvin Gastler and sisters, Leona Drier and Eunice Eck.
Graveside services were at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 28, 2020 at the Wellsville Cemetery. Rev. Daniel Teuscher officiated.
Services were under the direction of the Myers Funeral Home in Wellsville.
