Obituary

            Carl Eugene “Pete” Stuckenschneider, 82, of Martinsburg, passed away Monday, January 13, 2020 at his home, surrounded by his family.

            Mr. Stuckenschneider was born May 13, 1937 in Martinsburg, Missouri, a son of Theodore Leo “Ted” and Elizabeth Marie (Ahrens) Stuckenschneider.

            On September 22, 1956 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Martinsburg, he married Frances Louise Pearl.  They shared over 63 wonderful years together and were the proud parents of four children.  Pete and Frankie lived all of their lives in Martinsburg. 

            Pete was a row crop and livestock farmer for most of his life.  He was also a self-employed truck driver, owning and operating Gene Stuckenschneider and Sons Trucking.

            He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Martinsburg and a member of the Knights of Columbus.

            Pete was a devoted husband, proud father and wonderful grandfather who loved his family dearly.  He enjoyed tractor pulling and his family had their own International Pulling Tractor, “Family Feud” that has been featured in several pulls across the states throughout the years.  Pete also liked camping with his friends and going out to eat. 

            Pete is survived by his wife, Frances Louise “Frankie” Stuckenschneider, of the home in Martinsburg; four children, Sharon Jean Cope and husband, Bob, Ronald Eugene “Ronnie” Stuckenschneider and Randy Lee Stuckenschneider, all of Martinsburg and Sheila Ann Oliver and Dre Whitley, of Columbia; nine grandchildren and spouses, Aaron and Mandy Cope, of Martinsburg, Matt and Heather Cope, of Mexico, Bryan and Whitney Stuckenschneider, of Columbia, Derek and Alex Stuckenschneider and Cody Stuckenschneider, of Mexico, Lance Stuckenschneider, of Moscow Mills, Kyle and Kayla Oliver, of Mexico, Gavin Oliver and Gabby Carter, of Columbia and Seth Oliver, of Martinsburg; ten great-grandchildren, Tayler Cope, Pacey Cope, Brant Cope, Coltin Cope, Dyllan Epperson, Audree Cope, Dominic Cope, Lucy Stuckenschneider, Annie Stuckenschneider and Beckham Stuckenschneider; brother, Joe Stuckenschneider, of Martinsburg; sister and brother-in-law, Clara Ann and Ed Lowry, of Mexico; sisters-in-law, Carolyn Stuckenschneider, Pat Stone and Bill Brinegar and Diane and Charlie Swaim, of Martinsburg; brother-in-law, Bob Pearl; in addition to several nieces, nephews and cousins.

            He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Lawrence “Rooster” Stuckenschneider; sisters, Dorothy Henry and Betty Lou Birsinger; brothers-in-law, Ron Birsinger, Jim Henry, Shorty Swaim, Jim Pearl and Charles Stone and sisters-in-law, Adele Stuckenschneider, Donna Swaim and Mary Lou Pearl.

            Visitation was held from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m., with a Prayer Service at 8:00 p.m., Thursday, January 16, 2020 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Martinsburg.

            Mass of Christian Burial was at 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 17, 2020 at the church.  Father Bill Debo officiated.  Serving as organist was Ruth Wilson.  Cantors were Jan Schafer and Brenda Hale.

            Interment was in St. Joseph Cemetery, south of Martinsburg.  Serving as pallbearers were his grandsons, Aaron Cope, Matt Cope, Gavin Oliver, Kyle Oliver, Seth Oliver, Bryan Stuckenschneider, Cody Stuckenschneider, Derek Stuckenschneider and Lance Stuckenschneider.  Honorary pallbearers were Sam Barker, Ed Cope, Cletus Deimeke, Clem Hagenhoff, Tim Henry and Gary Stuckenschneider. 

            Services were under the direction of the Myers Funeral Home in Wellsville.
