Gale Eugene Stuart, 77, of Martinsburg, passed away Thursday, February 4, 2021 at Gamma Road Lodge in Wellsville.
Mr. Stuart was born October 7, 1943 in Martinsburg, Missouri, a son of John Delmar “Dyke” and Lottie Pearl (Gardner) Stuart.
On February 14, 1967 in Palmyra, Missouri, he married Betty Jean Love. They were the parents of three children. Gale was then in a relationship with Sylvia Young and they had one son. He then married Nancy Lee Hale in 2000 in Wellsville and they had a son.
Gale had lived all of his life in the Martinsburg and Wellsville area.
He was employed at the Wellsville Fire Brick Company for over 27 years, working numerous jobs, most recently as a kiln operator. Gale was owner and operator of Stuart Trucking with his brother, Dutch, and nephew, Shorty, for several years, until 2010 when his health declined. Gale had also farmed and raised livestock.
Gale was a member of the Wellsville Sportsman Lake.
He was an avid outdoorsman and especially enjoyed fishing and hunting. Gale liked playing poker, shuffleboard, pool and horseshoes. He also enjoyed riding around the countryside, looking at the scenery.
Gale is survived by his five children, Brian Kent Stuart and Bradley Chad Stuart, of Martinsburg, Regina Sue Stuart, of St. Charles, Colby Eugene Pitzer, of Wellsville and William Gale “Will” Stuart, of Columbia; seven grandchildren, Malik Deron Leo Kemp, of St. Charles, Austin Derrick Stuart, of Martinsburg, Alyssa Rene’ Pitzer, of Montgomery City, Brody Wayne Pitzer, Blake Owen Pitzer, Chloe Leann Pitzer and Jameson Eugene Pitzer, all of Wellsville; sisters and brother-in-law, Dorothy Lula Bradshaw, of Auxvasse, Leona Ruth “Tody” Oliver, of Mexico, Iona Sue “Tessie” and Sam Haislip, of Wellsville; in addition to several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Elmer Lee “Dutch” Stuart, John Delmar Stuart, Jr. and Albert Lloyd “Hoss” Stuart and sister, Martha Frances Nye.
Visitation was held from 12:00 noon – 1:45 p.m., Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at the Myers Funeral Home in Wellsville.
Graveside services followed at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, at the Wellsville Cemetery. Rev. Jonathan Bradley officiated. Serving as pallbearers were Mike Arens, Ralph Delozier, Lonnie Oliver, Steve Oliver, Travis Oliver and Corey Senevey. Honorary pallbearers were Brian Christian and David Romaker.
